Job Summary
Role Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and analytical Fund Accounting Lead to drive financial excellence across our Private Equity this role you will act as a strategic partner to Fund Controllers providing them with institutional-grade data transparency and reporting. As a team lead you will oversee a dedicated team of fund accountants ensuring data integrity operational efficiency and top-tier client service while actively identifying and implementing process improvements to optimize our accounting ecosystems.
Key Responsibilities:
Oversee the end-to-end calculation and production of Net Asset Value (NAV). Perform and review comprehensive cash position and Trial Balance reconciliations against fund administrators custodians prime brokers and bank accounts to resolve breaks efficiently.
Review allocation of income expenses gains and losses across partner accounts. Review quarterly and annual Partner Statements to ensure accurate tracking of paid-in capital unfunded commitments and clawbacks.
Oversee complex Private Equity lifecycles including:
Execution and calculation of capital calls drawdowns and distributions.
Verification of complex waterfall models distribution rules preferred returns and carried interest calculations.
Pre- and post-closing transaction support for new portfolio investments.
Lead month-end close workflows and drive quarter-end and year-end financial statements review ensuring all supporting schedules and trial balances are accurate and audit-ready.
Critically evaluate existing accounting workflows reporting cycles and system integrations to uncover inefficiencies manual bottlenecks or operational risks.
Develop scalable automated or streamlined standard operating procedures (SOPs) to address identified gaps and enhance delivery speed and data accuracy.
Lead the implementation of new accounting tools technologies and optimized workflows ensuring smooth adoption across the team and seamless delivery to clients.
Drive leverage for our clients by deeply understanding their fund structures and strategic needs while scaling our fractional CFO and advisory operations.
Enable data-driven decision-making for fund managers by leveraging advanced tools to deliver critical PE metrics including real-time Internal Rate of Return (IRR) portfolio company valuation tracking and key performance indicators (TVPI RVPI and DPI).
Define monitor and manage the teams Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to ensure accurate and timely deliverable timelines.
Conduct daily and monthly quality control reviews of work processes to ensure institutional-grade reporting accuracy and zero-defect deliverables.
Mentor guide and upskill team members. Provide creative problem-solving frameworks to help them navigate complex private equity accounting scenarios and adapt to newly optimized processes.
Monitor daily operational workflows analyze performance variances against targets and execute root-cause analysis to implement permanent process improvements.
Collaborate in the hiring selection onboarding and continuous training of new team members to support team growth.
Job Requirements and Credentials:
5 years of experience in fund accounting or fund administration with a strong focus on Private Equity or closed-end fund structures (experience with capital calls waterfalls and NAV reconciliations is required).
Proven track record of successfully identifying accounting process gaps and implementing operational optimizations or financial technology solutions.
13 years of direct supervisory or team management experience with a track record of reviewing the work of direct reports.
Highly organized with impeccable attention to detail and a track record of meeting strict financial deadlines.
Bachelors degree in Accounting Finance or a related field. CPA or progress toward a CPA/CFA is a significant plus.
Proactive curious and driven to dismantle inefficient legacy processes in favor of scalable modern solutions.
