About the Job:
We are looking for an Inpatient Coder V to join our clients healthcare team and ensure accurate coding of inpatient medical this role you will assign diagnosis and procedure codes review medical documentation and ensure compliance with coding guidelines and industry standards. You will also help maintain coding accuracy validate documentation and charges and support quality and audit requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
Assign accurate ICD-10-CM CPT and HCPCS diagnosis and procedure codes for inpatient medical records.
Review medical records to ensure complete and accurate code assignment.
Compare clinical documentation code assignments and financial system charges to ensure accuracy and completeness.
Identify coding discrepancies and escalate issues to the appropriate manager.
Abstract required clinical information from patient records.
Utilize EMR systems coding encoders and other coding support tools effectively.
Ensure compliance with AHIMA AAPC and industry coding standards.
Maintain coding accuracy productivity and quality standards.
Qualifications:
Bachelors Degree in a healthcare-related field is preferred.
At least 2 years of experience in inpatient medical coding.
Active AHIMA or AAPC certification (CPC CIC or CCS) is required.
Strong knowledge of ICD-10-CM CPT and HCPCS coding guidelines.
Experience handling simple to complex inpatient cases including high-dollar accounts.
Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems such as Epic Cerner Meditech or 3M Encoder.
Experience reviewing and interpreting inpatient medical records.
Can start immediately if possible.
