We are looking for a highly organised and detail-oriented Australian Bookkeeping Assistant to support the day-to-day finance and payroll operations of a busy hospitality business. This role is responsible for ensuring financial records are accurate supplier invoices are processed on time payroll is completed correctly and accounts are maintained efficiently.
You will work with accounting payroll and rostering systems while coordinating with managers and suppliers to ensure all financial and administrative tasks are completed within deadlines.
Key Responsibilities
Process supplier invoices accurately in Xero.
Maintain accurate financial records and supporting documentation.
Monitor shared inboxes and respond to finance-related enquiries.
Process payroll verify timesheets and manage leave records.
Prepare payroll reports and payment files for approval.
Process supplier payments and staff reimbursements.
Perform supplier statement reconciliations and resolve discrepancies.
Complete bank reconciliations and month-end accounting tasks.
Assist with stocktake reconciliation and financial reporting.
Maintain HR and payroll documentation.
Ensure all finance and payroll activities are completed accurately and on schedule.
Requirements
Minimum 23 years of Australian bookkeeping experience with experience in accounts payable payroll or finance administration.
Experience using Xero is required.
Payroll processing experience is highly preferred.
Strong understanding of accounts payable bank reconciliations and financial record keeping.
High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
Excellent organisational and time management skills.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office.
Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines independently.
Computer and tech-savvy skills
Experience supporting hospitality or multi-site businesses is an advantage.
Work Environment & Expectations
While this is a work-from-home position it is important to note that this is a full-time rolenot a freelance or flexible-hour arrangement. You will be expected to work a fixed shift and maintain a high level of professionalism and accountability just as you would in an office environment.
This role requires:
Discipline and commitment to set working hours (strict shift times not flexible)
Use of time tracking software during work hours
Active participation in team and client calls with your camera ON
Consistent availability and responsiveness throughout your shift
Treating this as a long-term full-time jobnot a side gig or freelance task
Payroll is processed bi-monthly.
