Demolition Estimator
Part-Time 30 hours per week
Remote / Work from Home
$12AUD/hour (negotiable)
We are seeking an experienced Demolition Estimator to prepare accurate and competitive estimates for residential commercial and civil demolition projects.
The successful candidate will be responsible for reviewing drawings site information scopes of work and project specifications to determine labour equipment materials disposal subcontractor and other project costs. The role will work closely with project managers site teams suppliers and clients to ensure estimates are accurate commercially viable and submitted on time.
Key Responsibilities
Estimating & Take-Offs
Review architectural structural civil and demolition drawings.
Perform detailed quantity take-offs for demolition works.
Determine demolition methodologies labour requirements equipment and project durations.
Estimate costs for demolition dismantling removal excavation and associated works.
Calculate quantities of concrete steel masonry timber fixtures finishes and other materials requiring removal.
Estimate waste volumes and disposal requirements.
Identify salvageable and recyclable materials where applicable.
Tender & Proposal Preparation
Prepare detailed and competitive demolition tenders and quotations.
Review tender documents scopes specifications and project requirements.
Identify inclusions exclusions assumptions and potential risks.
Prepare clear cost breakdowns and tender summaries.
Ensure estimates are completed accurately and within tender deadlines.
Assist with preparing variations and revised pricing.
Supplier & Subcontractor Pricing
Obtain and compare supplier and subcontractor quotations.
Request pricing for plant equipment waste disposal trucking recycling asbestos-related services and specialist demolition works.
Maintain up-to-date supplier and subcontractor pricing databases.
Negotiate pricing where appropriate to achieve competitive tender outcomes.
Cost & Risk Analysis
Identify potential project risks and cost impacts.
Allow for site access traffic management temporary works protection works and other project constraints.
Consider disposal fees tipping charges transportation equipment mobilisation and labour requirements.
Review previous projects and historical costs to improve estimating accuracy.
Conduct estimate reviews before submission.
Demolition Scope
Experience estimating some or all of the following would be highly desirable:
Residential demolition
Commercial building demolition (hard requirement)
Industrial demolition (hard requirement))
Partial demolition
Structural demolition
Internal strip-outs (hard requirement)
Concrete demolition
Structural steel removal
Building dismantling
Excavation and removal
Waste removal and disposal
Recycling and salvage
Concrete cutting and sawing
Soft strip demolition
Plant and equipment removal
Required Qualifications & Experience
Previous experience as a Demolition Estimator Construction Estimator Quantity Surveyor or similar role.
Demonstrated experience estimating demolition or construction projects.
Strong understanding of demolition processes labour plant equipment and disposal requirements.
Ability to interpret architectural structural and engineering drawings.
Strong quantity take-off and cost estimation skills.
Excellent numerical and analytical abilities.
Strong attention to detail.
Ability to manage multiple tenders and deadlines.
Experience with Australian demolition and construction projects.
Preferred Experience
Knowledge of Australian demolition regulations safety requirements and industry practices.
Experience with residential commercial industrial or infrastructure demolition.
Experience working with Australian contractors suppliers and subcontractors.
Understanding of asbestos and hazardous-material considerations.
Experience estimating projects involving complex site access or staged demolition.

Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate is an experienced Demolition Estimator who understands not only how to calculate quantities and costs but also how demolition projects are actually executed on site.
They should be comfortable reviewing drawings determining demolition methodology calculating labour and equipment requirements obtaining subcontractor pricing allowing for waste and disposal costs and producing accurate tenders for residential commercial industrial or infrastructure projects.
