Job Summary

Manager Maintenance Planning & Technical Records

Location: Port Moresby Papua New Guinea
Salary: AUD 80000 per annum
Department: Airline Technical / Continuing Airworthiness Management Group (CAMG)

PNG Air is seeking an experienced and highly organized Manager Maintenance Planning & Technical Records to lead and oversee all aircraft maintenance planning activities across the airlines fleet.

Reporting directly to the General Manager the successful candidate will play a critical role in ensuring the ongoing airworthiness maintenance compliance and operational readiness of the fleet through effective maintenance forecasting planning and technical records management.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead and manage all maintenance planning activities across the fleet.
  • Develop and maintain short medium and long-term maintenance forecast plans.
  • Ensure all approved maintenance programs remain current and accurately reflected within the maintenance tracking system.
  • Oversee the preparation and review of maintenance work packs for scheduled maintenance activities.
  • Monitor aircraft maintenance status and provide regular reporting to management.
  • Coordinate with Maintenance Repair Organizations (MROs) subcontractors and operational departments to ensure maintenance activities are completed efficiently and on schedule.
  • Manage maintenance deferrals MEL items and deferred defects in accordance with regulatory requirements.
  • Participate in operational planning meetings and provide CAMG representation during maintenance coordination activities.
  • Liaise closely with Continuing Airworthiness Technical Services and Compliance teams regarding maintenance program updates airworthiness directives and service bulletins.
  • Ensure full compliance with all regulatory quality and continuing airworthiness requirements.
  • Support the optimization of aircraft downtime and maintenance opportunities to minimize operational disruption and cost.

The position carries significant responsibility for maintaining fleet availability while ensuring the highest standards of safety compliance and operational efficiency are achieved.



Requirements
Essential Requirements:
  • Minimum 3 years experience in a senior aircraft maintenance planning position.
  • Minimum 2 years experience planning maintenance activities for ATR aircraft operations.
  • Strong understanding of Continuing Airworthiness Management principles and airline maintenance planning processes.
  • Experience working with aircraft maintenance tracking software and maintenance management systems.
  • Demonstrated experience coordinating scheduled maintenance events and maintenance work packages.
  • Strong knowledge of:
    • Civil Aviation Regulations (CAR 119)
    • Continuing Airworthiness Management requirements
    • Maintenance Program Documents (MPD)
    • Airworthiness Directives (ADs)
    • Service Bulletins (SBs)
    • Component Maintenance Manuals (CMM)
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel and spreadsheet management skills.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure and manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
  • Strong organizational and analytical skills.
  • Professional and collaborative approach to problem solving and operational decision making.
Desirable:
  • Previous experience within ATR airline operations in the South Pacific region.
  • Experience working in a CAMO or Continuing Airworthiness environment.
  • Understanding of airline operational requirements within remote or regional operations.
  • Experience liaising with external MRO providers and regulators.

Required Skills:

Lead and manage all aspects of cabin crew operations to ensure safety compliance and outstanding customer service. Liaise with internal and external stakeholders to maintain operational standards and regulatory requirements. Oversee performance management training rostering and resource planning for the Cabin Crew department. Ensure adherence to company policies aviation safety rules and quality standards. Foster a culture of safety security and continuous improvement.


Required Education:

Proven managerial experience in a Cabin Crew leadership experience within the aviation industry preferably in cabin understanding of safety regulations operational standards and crew resource communication and people management qualifications are desirable but not mandatory.
