Position Overview
Our Client is seeking an experienced Construction Foreman to join their construction operations in Papua New Guinea delivering commercial industrial institutional and infrastructure projects.
This hands-on leadership role is responsible for supervising daily construction activities coordinating labour subcontractors plant equipment and materials and ensuring projects are completed safely efficiently and to the highest quality standards. The successful candidate will provide practical site leadership ensure compliance with Australian Standards and company procedures and play an important role in mentoring and developing PNG National employees through practical skills transfer and coaching.

Site Supervision
- Supervise and coordinate daily construction activities on site.
- Lead direct labour workforces subcontractors and suppliers.
- Allocate labour plant and equipment to maximise productivity.
- Monitor daily progress and ensure work is completed according to programme.
- Interpret construction drawings specifications and project documentation.
- Coordinate construction sequencing and work activities.
- Plan daily work schedules and workforce requirements.
- Coordinate materials equipment and site resources to minimise delays.
- Monitor workmanship and construction quality.
- Conduct site inspections and identify defects or quality issues.
- Ensure all works comply with approved drawings specifications and company standards.
- Ensure construction activities comply with applicable Australian Codes and Standards.
- Conduct toolbox meetings and promote safe work practices.
- Monitor compliance with company safety policies and procedures.
- Identify site risks and implement appropriate corrective actions.
- Promote a strong safety culture across the workforce.
- Liaise with Project Managers Engineers Supervisors subcontractors and suppliers.
- Assist with site establishment and logistics planning.
- Resolve construction issues through practical problem solving.
- Monitor subcontractor performance and compliance with project requirements.
- Monitor site productivity and programme performance.
- Report site progress issues and resource requirements to management.
- Assist with planning and scheduling activities.
- Maintain accurate records relating to site activities where required.
- Mentor and coach PNG National employees through practical on-the-job training.
- Assist in developing supervisory capability within the local workforce.
- Promote technical competency quality workmanship and continuous improvement.
- Support knowledge transfer and workforce development initiatives.
Qualifications
- Trade Qualification in Carpentry Building or a related construction trade.
- Secondary or Higher Education Certificate.
- Additional qualifications in Construction Management Supervision or Leadership are highly regarded.
- Minimum 10 years experience in the construction industry.
- Minimum 5 years experience as a Construction Foreman Leading Hand or Site Supervisor.
- Trade-qualified Carpenter or Builder highly preferred.
- Experience supervising commercial industrial institutional or infrastructure construction projects.
- Strong knowledge of construction sequencing and trade coordination.
- Experience managing direct labour workforces and subcontractors.
- Experience interpreting construction drawings and specifications.
- Experience coordinating plant equipment materials and labour resources.
- Proven ability to deliver projects safely on schedule and to quality standards.
- Experience working to Australian Codes Standards and construction best practices is highly desirable.
- Experience leading multicultural construction teams is highly regarded.
- Current Drivers Licence.
- Relevant Trade Qualification Certificates.
- First Aid Certificate (desirable).
- Strong leadership and supervisory skills.
- Excellent construction planning and coordination abilities.
- Strong understanding of quality control and construction standards.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Practical problem-solving and decision-making ability.
