Site Tower Quality Inspector Engineer (Wind Steel Fabrication)
Job Summary
to serve as the on-site quality inspector at our wind tower fabrication plant. You will be responsible for in-process and final quality control of steel tower sections covering Black Tower and White Tower production. This role requires hands-on NDT execution coating
inspection paint damage repair knowledge and root cause analysis of defects. You will act as the primary quality interface between production clients and third-party inspectors (if applicable) during Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT).
Quality Assurance for Steel Tower Sections
- Oversee and enforce quality standards throughout the fabrication of steel wind towers including cutting beveling plate rolling fit-up welding flange assembly and final
- dimensional alignment.
- Conduct stage-wise inspections against project specifications engineering drawings and industry standards.
- Verify welder qualifications WPS/PQR compliance and welding consumable traceability.
- Ensure dimensional accuracy of shell cans flanges and internal/external attachments using appropriate gauges and alignment tools.
- Perform and interpret Non-Destructive Testing methods
- Utilize inspection equipment: UT thickness gauges calipers micrometers bore gauges flange flatness measuring tools and weld gauges.
- Monitor and audit NDT subcontractors when required.
- Inspect surface preparation and coating application
- Practical knowledge of repairing paint/coating damage
- Lead Root Cause Analysis (RCA) for weld defects coating failures delamination and corrosion issues using 8D fishbone or 5-Why methodologies.
Required Skills:
Experience 5 years of QC/QA experience in wind tower steel fabrication or heavy structural steel manufacturing. NDT Certification Level II or equivalent in UT MT and PT mandatory. Education Diploma or above in Mechanical Engineering Metallurgical Engineering or related field. Process Knowledge Deep understanding of full steel tower production cycle: plate rolling submerged arc welding flange machining/assembly corrosion protection systems. Inspection Tools Proficient in using UT gauges coating thickness gauges pull-off adhesion testers holiday detectors calipers micrometers and flange alignment jigs.
