Rotating Equipment Principal Engineer
Job Summary
Oversee and manage all activities related to maintenance of the rotating equipment including - developing QA/QC protocols and procedures for preventive and corrective maintenance by delivering technical excellence and leadership to ensure that the technical integrity of the rotating equipment is maintained.
MANAGERIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
- Drive seamless communication between senior leadership team members and other departments to ensure smooth flow of information and timely decision making
- Build a strong team culture by fostering a positive and productive work environment and ensuring that the staff is motivated and collaborative
- Set clear goals and expectations for team members regularly assess their performance against the set goals and provide constructive feedback for continuous improvement
- Conduct regular check ins with team members for alignment on expectations and performance
- Lead the rotating equipment team and ensure effective and efficient utilization of resources to achieve departmental objectives
- Guide and support team members on all operational and functional matters and resolve any doubts/concerns/grievances they have
- Devote time to train team members on new ways of working developing new competencies and upskilling to drive performance and productivity
FUNCTIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Rotating Equipment Strategic Planning and Budgeting:
- Develop departmental strategies in alignment with the corporate strategy and ensure alignment of the delivery of business results to the corporate objectives
- Develop and maintain the long-term strategic plan for the engineering discipline activities in the Asset Reference Plan and ensure alignment with production maintenance and projects for delivery
- Develop optimum Capex & Opex budget for all rotating equipment engineering activities considering the future requirements and forecast expenditure to ensure sufficient funds and resources are available at all times
Project Operation and Maintenance of Rotating Equipment:
- Lead Rotating engineering activities for capital projects plant expansions and brownfield modifications from concept selection through commissioning and start-up.
- Manage Rotating project interfaces technical evaluations vendor selection FAT/SAT and contractor performance to ensure safe and efficient project delivery.
- Develop and manage the delivery of technical excellence within rotating equipment engineering
- Recommend best practices related to operation and maintenance of the rotating equipment
- Guide the team on complex investigations and provide expert guidance to resolve technical challenges with maintenance and projects delivery
- Propose and initiate reliability and safety improvement projects in coordination with reliability teams
- Direct the team in technical studies and failure investigations Process and Instrument Diagram Reviews Safety Integrity Level (SIL) assessments and HAZOPs etc.
- Act as a deputy subject matter expert (SME) for rotating equipment engineering and act as the definitive source of knowledge technique and expertise to provide professional and technical insight for electrical design engineering and trouble-shooting activities
Management of Spare Parts:
- Manage and control the inventory of materials and spare parts ensure that spare parts and material purchase orders have been prepared and updated in time on SAP and the materials are supplied well in advance of the scheduled execution
- Identify spare parts and consumables requirements for rotating equipment and submit Material Master requests for the same as and when required
- Ensure that the handling procedures are in place for all equipment (capitalized insurance spares special tools etc.) to be handled with care to ensure its integrity and long service life
Quality and Assurance Management:
- Ensure technical quality of all the rotating equipment engineering activities within the department
- Ensure that the rotating equipment meet the required standards set per code or OEM or Industry best practices by regular or surprise inspections
- Develop and maintain robust assurance functions within procedures to ensure risk profile in relevant business scope is identified monitored and controlled
- Liaise with relevant area managers within production maintenance projects and technology to develop and strengthen assurance processes to ensure uninterrupted plant operation
- Oversee departmental activities and ensure HSSE and regulatory compliance
Vendor Management and Engineering Contracts:
- Liaise with vendors as part of long-term service contracts ensure contract terms and conditions are fulfilled
- Support ENR in strategizing major engineering contracts from inception contract strategy contractor evaluation to selection
- Ensure delivery of major contracts and contractual compliance with regards to budgets safety and quality and timelines
Stakeholder Management and Continuous Improvement:
- Develop and maintain cordial relationships with a variety of internal and external stakeholders with the highest standards of business ethics
- Promote and foster technical innovation acquisition of expertise and a continuous improvement culture by constantly seeking new technical developments and actively pursuing deployment opportunities
Qualifications :
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Equivalent
- 10 years of rotating equipment experience in LNG or Oil and Gas industry
- Technical Authority Level3
- Demonstrated experience in the execution engineering construction commissioning or management of major industrial projects preferably within the Oil & Gas LNG or energy sector
