Job Summary
We are looking for a skilled and motivated Assistant Pastry Chef to support the Pastry Chef in the preparation and production of high-quality pastries desserts cakes and baked products. The successful candidate will assist with daily kitchen operations while maintaining excellent standards of quality hygiene and presentation.
Key Responsibilities
Assist the Pastry Chef in preparing pastries cakes desserts breads and other baked products.
Prepare and measure ingredients accurately according to recipes and production requirements.
Assist with decorating plating and presentation of desserts and pastries.
Ensure consistency in taste quality texture and appearance.
Maintain cleanliness and organization of the pastry kitchen and workstations.
Follow food safety hygiene and sanitation standards at all times.
Monitor ingredient stocks and report shortages to the Pastry Chef.
Properly store ingredients and finished products to maintain freshness and quality.
Operate and maintain pastry equipment safely and correctly.
Support the Pastry Chef in developing and testing new products when required.
Assist with daily preparation and production schedules.
Work effectively with other kitchen staff to ensure smooth operations.
Perform other duties assigned by the Pastry Chef or Kitchen Management.
Required Skills and Competencies
Previous experience in a pastry kitchen bakery hotel restaurant or catering environment.
Knowledge of pastry and baking techniques.
Ability to follow recipes and production instructions accurately.
Good knowledge of food safety and hygiene practices.
Good organizational and time-management skills.
Attention to detail and strong focus on quality and presentation.
Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced kitchen environment.
Good teamwork and communication skills.
Physically fit and able to stand for extended periods.
Culinary or pastry-related certification is an advantage.
Experience
23 years of relevant experience in pastry bakery hotel restaurant or catering operations is preferred.
