Job Summary

The Welder performs welding fabrication repair and maintenance activities on structural components piping equipment and other metalwork required for safe rig operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform welding and fabrication work using approved welding techniques.
  • Repair and fabricate metal structures pipes platforms supports and equipment.
  • Inspect materials and welding surfaces before commencing work.
  • Read and interpret basic engineering drawings and welding specifications.
  • Operate welding machines cutting equipment grinders and other workshop tools.
  • Perform grinding cutting fitting and finishing activities.
  • Conduct visual inspections of completed welds.
  • Maintain welding equipment and tools.
  • Follow approved hot-work procedures and Permit to Work requirements.
  • Ensure proper storage and handling of welding consumables.
  • Maintain good housekeeping in the workshop and work areas.
  • Comply with all HSE requirements and use appropriate PPE.

Qualifications :

  • Minimum of Trade Test/Technical Certificate/OND in Welding Fabrication or related field.
  • 35 years welding/fabrication experience preferably in oil & gas marine or offshore operations.
  • Valid welding certification relevant to the required welding processes is preferred.
  • Experience with SMAW GTAW/TIG GMAW/MIG or other applicable welding processes.
  • Knowledge of hot-work procedures and welding safety.
  • Valid offshore safety certification and medical fitness where applicable.
