Job Summary

In partnership with our client we are seeking a Senior Product Manager to take ownership of a growing digital product portfolio at one of Africas leading digital media companies based in Lagos. You will sit at the intersection of editorial commercial and technology defining strategy driving execution and shipping products that readers advertisers and partners genuinely love. From reader-facing platforms and newsletter products to event technology and data products you will bring rigour clarity and momentum to how the company defines builds and delivers. Who are we looking for
  • You are an experienced product manager with 4 to 7 or more years in the role including at least 1 year at a senior level and you have a proven track record of shipping consumer-facing digital products end to end.
  • You are commercially sharp and understand how products drive revenue navigating trade-offs between user value and business goals with clarity and confidence.
  • You are technically fluent without being an engineer comfortable writing detailed product specifications working with development teams and translating complex requirements into well-structured actionable plans.
  • You are deeply curious about Africas technology and business landscape and find genuine inspiration in stories that help the world understand the continent.
  • You are a natural cross-functional collaborator equally comfortable working with editorial commercial engineering and design teams and bringing them together around a shared product vision.
  • You are comfortable with ambiguity and able to create structure where none exists moving with urgency and high ownership without waiting to be told what to do.
  • You are outcome-obsessed and low-ego caring about impact over output and thriving in a tight-knit collaborative team environment where culture matters as much as capability.
  • You are proficient in product and analytics tools such as Jira Figma Mixpanel Amplitude or GA4 and experienced in visualising project plans using Gantt charts or similar techniques.
Your Responsibilities
Product Strategy and Vision
  • You will define and own the digital product strategy across the companys portfolio of brands and products developing a clear product roadmap that supports editorial delivery audience growth and business goals.
  • You will translate the companys commercial objectives into actionable product initiatives embedding product thinking including user research prioritisation frameworks and KPIs across all product development activity.
Product Development and Execution
  • You will lead the full product lifecycle from discovery through delivery defining problems writing specifications prioritising features and shipping high-quality digital experiences on time and with resource efficiency.
  • You will work with engineering design and editorial teams to manage and iterate on existing digital platforms including web newsletters and events technology while continuously identifying gaps and opportunities for improvement.
  • You will own product metrics establishing dashboards and reporting cadences that give the team and leadership clear visibility into what is working and what needs to change.
Cross-Functional Leadership
  • You will act as the connective tissue between editorial commercial technology and leadership teams facilitating product reviews sprint planning and roadmap alignment sessions with senior stakeholders.
  • You will drive product launches working with internal and external stakeholders to secure the resources designs and timelines needed to bring initiatives to life successfully.
  • You will assess risks and opportunities across different delivery options creating and managing realistic timelines with buy-in from all relevant stakeholders.
  • You will build and mentor a product-forward culture coaching colleagues to think in terms of user problems and outcomes rather than just features and outputs.

  • A clearly defined and consistently executed product roadmap that is aligned to the companys editorial ambition and commercial goals with stakeholder buy-in at every stage.
  • Consumer-facing digital products shipped on time at high quality and with measurable impact on audience growth engagement and revenue contribution.
  • Product metrics and dashboards established and actively used by leadership to inform strategic decisions and prioritisation across the portfolio.
  • A cross-functional team that operates with greater product discipline clearer problem framing and a stronger focus on outcomes over outputs as a direct result of your leadership and coaching.
  • Successful launches across reader-facing platforms events technology and data products that deliver genuine value to readers advertisers and partners.
To be considered for this role you should have
  • 4 to 7 or more years of experience as a product manager with at least 1 year at a senior level.
  • A proven track record of shipping consumer-facing digital products end to end.
  • Strong experience writing technical requirement specifications and working closely with engineering teams.
  • Strong commercial acumen with the ability to navigate trade-offs between user value and business goals.
  • Proficiency in product and analytics tools such as Jira Figma Mixpanel Amplitude GA4 or equivalents.
  • Proven ability to work effectively with diverse cross-functional teams across technology marketing editorial and commercial functions.
  • Experience visualising project plans using Gantt charts or similar planning techniques.
  • Experience shipping digital products in media publishing content platforms or adjacent industries is a strong advantage.
  • Experience working in lean environments where wearing multiple hats is the norm is a strong advantage.
