The Radiographer is responsible for producing high-quality diagnostic images that referring clinicians can rely on to diagnose and treat their patients correctly. Working from our clinic you will manage the imaging schedule position and reassure patients operate radiographic equipment safely and document findings clearly for our physician team. For many of our patients this is their first diagnostic imaging of any kind so the role carries as much responsibility for patient comfort as it does for image quality. All clinical documentation and patient flow runs through BeaconOS our own platform which you will be trained on during clinics where you also cover the ultrasound room you will perform sonographic examinations alongside your radiography duties.

Reporting to the Center Manager the Radiographers responsibilities include:

Patient interaction

• Welcome each patient into the examination room and help them settle in comfortably

• Review the referring clinicians notes and ask relevant questions about the patients symptoms

• Explain procedures in plain language before beginning

• Observe and care for patients throughout the examination to ensure their safety and comfort

General radiography

• Develop a daily priority list that completes all scheduled procedures while leaving room for emergencies

• Determine the most appropriate imaging method for each patient

• Operate all radiographic equipment including portable units

• Assist patients who need help changing or positioning including those who are seriously ill injured or living with a disability

Specialised radiography

• Position patients and equipment to obtain the clearest most accurate image possible

• Measure the section to be radiographed and adjust machine controls for appropriate density detail and contrast

• Apply radiation protection devices to areas outside the field of exposure

• Review developed images and determine whether they are satisfactory for diagnostic purposes

Equipment and safety

• Apply radiation safety measures in line with regulatory requirements protecting patients colleagues and yourself

• Perform scheduled maintenance and minor repairs and escalate faults promptly

• Ensure the X-ray room is properly sanitised and waste is disposed of correctly

• Monitor radiographic supply levels and submit purchase requests in good time

Documentation and reporting

• Analyse and report imaging results to our physician team

• Maintain detailed accurate and confidential patient records in BeaconOS

• Monitor patient condition and reactions reporting abnormal signs to the physician

Ultrasound support (applies at clinics where the Radiographer covers the ultrasound room)

• Perform sonographic examinations selecting appropriate settings and patient positioning

• Verify measurements and calculations before results are released

• Decontaminate transducers and equipment between every patient

• Bachelors degree or HND in Radiography or Medical Imaging

• Current registration with the Radiographers Registration Board of Nigeria (RRBN)

• Minimum of 2 years post-registration experience in a hospital or diagnostic centre

• Working knowledge of radiation protection standards and safe operating practice

• Ability to explain procedures clearly and calmly to anxious patients

• Accurate record-keeping and attention to detail

• Computer literate and comfortable working in a digital record system we train every new hire on BeaconOS our own clinical platform during onboarding

• Competence in ultrasound scanning and willingness to cover the ultrasound room

• Experience with digital radiography and PACS

• Experience in a high-volume outpatient or diagnostic centre environment

• Familiarity with portable and mobile radiographic equipment
