About the Role

The Program Manager will play a critical role in the effective delivery and continuous improvement of programs by coordinating implementation strengthening program quality managing stakeholders tracking performance and ensuring that program activities contribute meaningfully to the organisations mission and strategic objectives.

This role is ideal for a strategic proactive and results-oriented professional with strong experience in program management gender-based violence prevention and response and protection programming within the nonprofit or development sector.

Job description


  • Coordinate the planning implementation monitoring and review of assigned programs and projects ensuring activities are delivered effectively and within agreed timelines and budgets.

  • Support the development and refinement of program plans implementation frameworks workplans and activity schedules in line with organizational priorities and program objectives.

  • Ensure that program activities are implemented in accordance with GBV protection safeguarding survivor-centered and trauma-informed programming principles.

  • Monitor program implementation and identify opportunities to strengthen program quality effectiveness reach and sustainability.

  • Work with relevant teams to collect review and use program data feedback and learning to improve implementation and inform programmatic decisions.

  • Support periodic program reviews and assessments and contribute to the documentation of lessons learned successes challenges and recommendations.

  • Identify implementation risks operational challenges and emerging issues and escalate significant concerns while proposing practical solutions.

  • Coordinate with relevant departments and units to ensure effective integration of program activities efficient use of resources and timely delivery of program outputs.

  • Build and maintain effective working relationships with government institutions community stakeholders implementing partners civil society organizations and other relevant actors.

  • Represent the orgaisation at relevant program meetings coordination forums technical working groups trainings and stakeholder engagements as delegated by the Head of Programs.

  • Support the identification and development of funding opportunities and contribute to concept notes proposals budgets donor submissions and grant applications.

  • Support the implementation of funded projects in accordance with approved proposals workplans budgets donor requirements and reporting timelines.

  • Prepare timely and high-quality program reports updates presentations case studies success stories and other program documentation.

  • Work closely with the MEL function to track program indicators outputs outcomes and progress against agreed targets.

  • Support the supervision coordination and capacity development of program staff consultants volunteers and other project personnel as assigned.

  • Identify and communicate training and capacity-building needs relating to program implementation project management GBV programming protection safeguarding and trauma-informed approaches.

  • Collaborate with the Communications Unit to document and communicate program achievements and impact while ensuring appropriate consent confidentiality and ethical considerations when sharing survivor-related information.

  • Maintain accurate and comprehensive program records including workplans activity reports attendance records monitoring documents partner documentation and other relevant program files.

  • Ensure assigned programs comply with organizational policies donor requirements applicable regulations and relevant sector standards.

  • Support the Head of Programs in strengthening program quality organizational learning innovation and the expansion of successful interventions.

  • Represent organisation at public events trainings conferences and other relevant platforms as assigned.

  • Perform other related tasks as assigned by leadership.



Requirements
  • A Masters or bachelors degree in Development Studies Social Sciences Gender Studies International Development Public Policy Human Rights Project Management or a related field.

  • At least 5-7 years of progressive experience in program or project management preferably within NGOs civil society organizations international development organizations or the gender/GBV sector.

  • Demonstrated experience coordinating and implementing development gender GBV prevention and response protection safeguarding womens rights or related programs.

  • Good understanding of GBV programming survivor-centered approaches trauma-informed principles safeguarding and protection standards.

  • Experience supporting program planning implementation monitoring reporting and documentation.

  • Experience working with donors or development partners and contributing to proposal development grant implementation budgeting and reporting.

  • Strong stakeholder engagement and coordination skills with the ability to work effectively with government institutions partners community stakeholders and civil society organizations.

  • Strong organizational and project management skills with the ability to manage multiple activities priorities deadlines and stakeholders effectively.

  • Good analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to identify implementation challenges and recommend practical solutions.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to produce clear and high-quality reports proposals presentations and other program documents.

  • Ability to work collaboratively across teams and contribute effectively to cross-functional initiatives.

  • High emotional intelligence empathy integrity and discretion particularly when handling sensitive information and working with survivors and vulnerable populations.

  • A proactive accountable and results-oriented approach with a demonstrated commitment to gender equality human rights protection and the organisations mission.

Required Skills:

Bachelors degree in Law International Relations Public Policy Development Studies Social Sciences Project Management or a related field; postgraduate qualifications or certifications in compliance partnerships grant or project management are an added advantage. 47 years of experience in partnership management donor relations compliance grant management or stakeholder engagement within nonprofit development or social impact organizations. Strong knowledge of donor compliance organizational governance risk management grant proposal development donor reporting and institutional partnership management.
