Procurement Officer
Job Summary
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Strategic Sourcing & Procurement Execution
- Manage the full procurement lifecycle including requisition review sourcing evaluation negotiation and purchase order issuance.
- Identify and implement cost-saving opportunities through strategic sourcing initiatives.
- Ensure procurement activities are aligned with organizational policies and budgetary guidelines.
- Maintain procurement plans aligned with departmental and organizational needs.
2. Vendor Management & Performance Optimization
- Identify evaluate and onboard vendors in line with approved vendor selection frameworks.
- Maintain and continuously update the approved vendor database.
- Monitor vendor performance against agreed service levels (SLAs/KPIs).
- Drive vendor rationalization and performance improvement initiatives.
3. Contract Management & Negotiation
- Support the development review and administration of vendor contracts.
- Lead price and commercial negotiations to achieve optimal value for the organization.
- Ensure all contracts comply with legal regulatory and internal governance standards.
4. Procurement Governance & Compliance
- Ensure strict adherence to procurement policies processes and approval hierarchies.
- Maintain proper documentation and audit trails for all procurement transactions.
- Support internal and external audit activities by providing required procurement records.
- Mitigate procurement-related risks through due diligence and compliance checks.
5. Stakeholder Engagement
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to understand procurement needs and timelines.
- Provide advisory support on procurement processes vendor selection and cost optimization.
- Ensure timely delivery of goods and services to meet business requirements.
6. Logistics & Supply Coordination
- Coordinate delivery receipt and verification of procured goods and services.
- Liaise with vendors and internal teams to resolve supply chain issues.
- Ensure proper documentation for goods receipt and service completion.
REQUIREMENTS
Education:
- BSc/HND in Social Sciences or a related field
- Relevant certifications (e.g. CIPSM) are an added advantage.
Experience:
- Minimum of 5 years experience in procurement or supply chain management
- Experience in a regulated industry is preferred.
- Experience in vendor negotiation and contract management.
