POS Application Developer

We are seeking a skilled Android POS Application Developer to design develop integrate test deploy and maintain payment applications for Payzeep.

The ideal candidate will have strong Android development skills experience with electronic payment systems and a solid understanding of POS terminal hardware payment protocols transaction processing and payment security standards.

The successful candidate will work closely with product managers backend engineers payment processors banks and terminal vendors to deliver secure reliable and efficient POS applications for merchants and financial institutions.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Develop maintain and enhance Android applications for POS payment terminals.
• Build merchant-facing applications for sales transactions reversals transaction history EOD e.t.c.
• Develop intuitive user interfaces optimized for POS terminal screens touchscreens keypads printers and other built-in peripherals.
• Integrate Android SDKs and device-specific APIs provided by OEMs and other terminal manufacturers.
• Ensure application compatibility across different terminal models Android versions and hardware configurations..
• Integrate POS applications with payment gateways acquiring banks processors and transaction switching platforms.
• Implement card payment workflows including authorization completion cancellation reversal and refund where supported.

• Integrate supported payment methods such as EMV chip-and-PIN contactless/NFC magnetic stripe where permitted and other approved payment channels.
• Implement transaction request and response handling timeouts duplicate transaction prevention and recovery from communication failures.
• Work with ISO 8583 messaging REST APIs or other payment integration protocols as required by the solution.
• Ensure accurate transaction status handling receipt generation and reconciliation.
•  Integrate and troubleshoot POS hardware components including: Thermal printers and receipt printing Card readers and EMV Interfaces Contactless/NFC Readers PIN Pads and PIN-entry interfaces Barcode scanners where applicable
• Device status battery connectivity and system information APIs.
• Develop and maintain device abstraction layers to support multiple terminal manufacturers and models.
• Diagnose hardware-specific issues using vendor SDKs documentation logs and debugging tools.

EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelors degree in Computer Science Engineering or a related field (required).

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

Total Relevant Experience: 57 years

Fintech / Financial Services Experience: 4 years supporting Application Development Experience for fintech banking or transaction-processing systems preferred

• Strong understanding of POS acquiring business models and payment ecosystem operations.
• Proven experience in merchant acquisition agent network management and business development.
• Excellent knowledge of payment switching transaction processing and terminal management.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and business intelligence/reporting tools.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and documentation abilities.
• High attention to detail and commitment to operational excellence.

REGULATORY CONSIDERATIONS (NIGERIA)

• Ensure POS operations comply with applicable CBN regulations guidelines and circulars.
• Supports compliance with the Nigeria Data Protection Act (NDPA) and relevant data security requirements.
•  Ensures adherence to AML/CFT KYC consumer protection and fraud prevention requirements
