Laboratory Technician – Geotechnical

Job Title: Laboratory Technician Geotechnical
Location: Site/Laboratory Based Nigeria

Qualification: Diploma OND HND or Bachelors Degree in Civil Engineering Geotechnical Engineering Geology Laboratory Technology or a related discipline.

Experience: Minimum 2 5 years of experience in geotechnical or construction materials laboratory testing.

We are looking for a skilled and detail-oriented Laboratory Technician to support geotechnical investigations through laboratory testing and analysis of soils aggregates concrete asphalt and other construction materials. The role involves conducting laboratory tests in accordance with recognized engineering standards maintaining laboratory equipment and ensuring accurate documentation of test results while adhering to quality and safety requirements.

• Perform laboratory testing on soil rock aggregates concrete asphalt and other construction materials in accordance with applicable engineering standards.

• Conduct geotechnical tests including sieve analysis moisture content Atterberg limits compaction California Bearing Ratio (CBR) permeability triaxial and other related tests.

• Receive prepare label and manage samples collected from field investigations and construction sites.

• Operate calibrate maintain and troubleshoot laboratory equipment and testing instruments.

• Accurately record analyze and document laboratory test results for reporting purposes.

• Assist engineers and geologists in evaluating laboratory findings and preparing technical reports.

• Ensure compliance with laboratory quality management systems testing procedures and safety regulations.

• Monitor laboratory supplies consumables and equipment inventory and report replenishment requirements.

• Maintain cleanliness organization and proper housekeeping within the laboratory.

• Report equipment malfunctions testing anomalies and safety concerns promptly.

• Provide support during field investigations and on-site material testing whenever required.

• Good understanding of geotechnical laboratory procedures material testing methods and engineering standards.

• Hands-on experience operating and maintaining laboratory testing equipment.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications particularly Excel and Word.

• Strong attention to detail with excellent analytical and documentation skills.

• Good communication teamwork and organizational abilities.

• Willingness to work in both laboratory and field environments.
