Group Legal Officer

The Group Legal Officer will provide strategic legal and commercial support to the Holding Company and its subsidiaries across oil & gas construction aviation fueling laboratory and diagnostics and other business interests of the Group.

The role will focus on protecting the Groups commercial interests managing legal and contractual risks supporting business transactions ensuring regulatory compliance and providing practical legal advice to executive management across the Group.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide strategic legal and commercial advice to the Group subsidiaries and executive management on business operations transactions and strategic initiatives.
  
• Draft review and negotiate commercial contracts agreements leases MOUs NDAs partnerships and other business documentation.
  
• Advise on legal and regulatory requirements affecting the Groups businesses including oil & gas construction aviation fueling and healthcare-related operations.
  
• Identify and mitigate legal contractual regulatory and commercial risks across the Group.
  
• Support acquisitions investments joint ventures partnerships restructuring and other strategic transactions including legal due diligence.
  
• Provide corporate governance and company secretarial support including Board documentation resolutions statutory records and filings.
  
• Manage litigation disputes and other contentious matters and coordinate external counsel where required.
  
• Liaise with regulators government agencies professional advisers and other external stakeholders on legal and regulatory matters.
  
• Develop and maintain Group legal policies compliance processes and contract management systems.
  
• Provide timely legal updates and recommendations to the Group MD/CEO and senior management on material risks transactions and regulatory developments.
  
  

• LL.B degree and qualification as a Barrister and Solicitor of the Supreme Court of Nigeria (BL).
  
• 812 years post-call experience preferably with a strong commercial/corporate legal background.
  
• Experience advising businesses senior management and/or Boards on commercial and strategic matters.
  
• Strong experience in contract drafting negotiation corporate governance and regulatory compliance.
  
• Experience working with a diversified group holding company or businesses operating across multiple sectors is highly desirable.
  
• Exposure to oil & gas construction aviation healthcare or other regulated industries is an advantage.
  
• Strong commercial awareness and ability to provide practical business-focused legal advice.
  
• Excellent negotiation analytical research and communication skills.
  
• High level of integrity discretion and professional judgment.
