General Manager
Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced and commercially driven General Manager for a client to provide overall leadership and management of the organizations business operations.
The General Manager will be responsible for translating the companys strategic direction into actionable business plans driving revenue and profitability ensuring operational efficiency managing organisational resources and providing effective leadership across teams and business functions.
The ideal candidate should have strong business acumen leadership capability commercial awareness vast knowledge of HR practices and operational management experience with the ability to work closely with the Managing Director to drive sustainable business growth.

Ensure effective coordination of business operations people finances client relationships and resources.
Establish performance standards and accountability across the organisation.
Identify business opportunities operational gaps and areas for improvement and implement appropriate solutions.
Key Responsibilities
1. Business Strategy & Leadership
Work closely with the Managing Director to develop and execute the organizations business strategy and growth plans.
Translate strategic objectives into annual quarterly and monthly business plans with clear targets and deliverables.
Provide leadership and direction to department heads and key team members.
Ensure all departments are aligned with the organisations strategic priorities and business objectives.
Monitor overall business performance and initiate corrective actions where targets are not being achieved.
Provide management with timely insights recommendations and business updates to support decision-making.
2. Business Development & Revenue Growth
Drive the organisations business development strategy and identify opportunities for revenue growth.
Develop and maintain relationships with key clients strategic partners and other relevant stakeholders.
Lead efforts to acquire new clients and expand existing client relationships.
Monitor sales pipelines conversion rates revenue performance and client retention.
Identify new markets products services and strategic opportunities that can contribute to business growth.
Support the development of commercial proposals pricing strategies partnerships and business negotiations.
Ensure business development activities translate into measurable revenue and profitability.
3. Financial & Commercial Management
Work with the Finance function to develop and monitor budgets forecasts revenue targets and expenditure.
Monitor the organisations financial and commercial performance against approved budgets and targets.
Ensure effective cost management without compromising service quality or business growth.
Review financial and management reports and identify areas requiring management intervention.
Monitor profitability across key business activities clients products or service lines.
Ensure appropriate controls are in place to minimise financial losses wastage and unnecessary expenditure.
Provide commercial recommendations to management based on financial and business performance.
4. Operations & Business Performance
Oversee the day-to-day operations of the organization and ensure efficient delivery of products and services.
Establish and monitor operational processes service standards and performance indicators.
Ensure departments have the resources and support required to deliver their objectives.
Identify operational inefficiencies and implement practical solutions to improve productivity and service delivery.
Ensure effective coordination between departments to minimise delays duplication and operational gaps.
Monitor business continuity and ensure key operational risks are identified and appropriately managed.
Promote continuous improvement across business processes and service delivery.
5. People & Performance Management
Provide leadership coaching and direction to managers and employees.
Establish clear performance expectations and ensure employees are accountable for agreed objectives.
Work with HR to support workforce planning recruitment onboarding performance management employee development and succession planning.
Identify skills and capability gaps and ensure appropriate training and development initiatives are implemented.
Promote a high-performance professional and accountable organisational culture.
Address performance and people-related issues promptly and in line with company policies.
Support the development and retention of high-performing employees.
6. Client & Stakeholder Management
Maintain strong relationships with key clients and strategic stakeholders.
Serve as an escalation point for major client concerns and commercially sensitive matters.
Ensure the organisation consistently delivers high standards of client service.
Monitor client feedback satisfaction retention and opportunities for account growth.
Represent the organisation at relevant business meetings industry events and stakeholder engagements.
Develop strategic partnerships that can strengthen the organisations market position and business opportunities.
7. Reporting & Management Information
Prepare and present regular management reports covering business performance revenue operations people risks and key initiatives.
Establish appropriate KPIs and performance dashboards for monitoring business performance.
Analyse business data and market information to identify trends risks and opportunities.
Provide the Managing Director with clear recommendations based on business performance and market intelligence.
Ensure departmental heads provide timely and accurate reports on their respective areas of responsibility.
8. Risk Compliance & Governance
Ensure business activities are conducted in accordance with applicable laws regulations contractual obligations and company policies.
Identify operational financial commercial and reputational risks and ensure appropriate mitigation measures are implemented.
Ensure appropriate approval processes internal controls and accountability mechanisms are maintained.
Promote ethical business practices and professional standards across the organisation.
Maintain confidentiality and security of company client employee and commercially sensitive information.
9. Other Responsibilities
Lead strategic and operational projects as assigned by the Managing Director.
Participate in management meetings and contribute to key organisational decisions.
Review and improve business policies processes and procedures where required.
Represent management in meetings with clients partners vendors regulators and other stakeholders where necessary.
Perform other duties that may reasonably be assigned by the Managing Director.
Bachelors degree in Business Administration Management Economics Finance Social Sciences or a related discipline.
A relevant professional qualification or postgraduate degree/MBA will be an added advantage.
Minimum of 810 years of relevant professional experience with at least 35 years in a senior management or leadership position.
Proven experience managing multiple business functions or departments within an SME or growing organisation.
Demonstrated experience in business development revenue generation operational management and team leadership.
Experience in consulting professional services outsourcing or a related industry will be an advantage where applicable.
