Job Summary
In partnership with our client we are seeking a General Manager to lead the full operations of a state-of-the-art commercial feed mill at one of Nigerias newest and most ambitious integrated poultry farms located in Imo State. You will own the production formulation commercial performance and people leadership of the feed mill business driving output quality operational efficiency and revenue growth in a market where your credibility and relationships are just as valuable as your technical expertise. Who are we looking for
- You are an experienced feed mill professional with deep hands-on knowledge of feed formulation not just operational oversight and a genuine understanding of what goes into producing high-quality cost-effective feed at scale.
- You are commercially savvy with an established network and strong credibility within the Nigerian feed milling market ideally built through experience at companies such as Olam Premier Feeds Hybrid or comparable industry leaders.
- You are a proven business leader with prior experience managing or running a feed mill business at a comparable scale including responsibility for production targets quality standards cost management and commercial outcomes.
- You are sales-minded and understand that unsold feed is a direct hit to the bottom line making you comfortable working closely with or leading a sales team to ensure product moves efficiently and profitably.
- You are operationally rigorous and quality-focused with a strong understanding of raw material sourcing nutritional standards production scheduling and the biosecurity requirements of an integrated poultry environment.
- You are a strong people leader who can build develop and hold a team accountable while fostering a culture of excellence discipline and continuous improvement.
Your Responsibilities
Production and Formulation Leadership
- You will oversee the full production operations of the feed mill ensuring consistent output quality nutritional accuracy and adherence to formulation standards across all feed products.
- You will bring genuine technical expertise to formulation decisions working closely with nutritionists and production teams to optimise feed composition for both quality and cost efficiency.
- You will implement and enforce quality control standards throughout the production process from raw material intake to finished product dispatch.
- You will manage production planning and scheduling to ensure feed availability aligns with internal poultry requirements and external customer demand at all times.
Commercial and Sales Leadership
- You will take commercial ownership of the feed mill business working closely with the sales and distribution team to drive product movement and protect margins.
- You will leverage your existing market relationships and industry credibility to open doors build partnerships and grow the feed mills customer base across key target markets.
- You will monitor sales performance inventory turnover and margin contribution taking corrective action quickly whenever commercial targets are at risk.
- You will contribute to pricing strategy product positioning and market development initiatives that strengthen the feed mills competitive position.
Operations and Cost Management
- You will manage the feed mills operational budget driving cost efficiency across raw material procurement production logistics and overheads without compromising quality.
- You will work closely with the Procurement Manager to ensure a consistent competitively priced supply of raw materials that supports both quality targets and margin goals.
- You will oversee maintenance equipment reliability and facility standards ensuring the mill operates at optimal capacity with minimal unplanned downtime.
Team Leadership and Culture
- You will lead develop and manage the feed mill team setting clear performance expectations and building a high-accountability results-driven culture.
- You will identify capability gaps invest in team development and ensure succession planning is in place for critical roles within the feed mill operation.

To be considered for this role you should have
- A Bachelors degree in Animal Science Agriculture Food Science Veterinary Medicine or a related field. A postgraduate qualification is an advantage.
- A minimum of 12 to 15 years of progressive experience in feed mill operations with at least 5 years in a senior leadership or general management role at a reputable feed mill company.
- Genuine technical expertise in feed formulation not just operational oversight.
- A proven track record of commercial leadership including sales accountability customer relationship management and margin delivery.
- Strong network and credibility within the Nigerian feed milling market ideally built through experience at companies such as Olam Premier Feeds or Hybrid.
- Demonstrated ability to lead and develop teams in a production and commercial environment.
