The hospital records an average of 40 urology consultations weekly and successfully performed over 212 prostate surgeries in 2025 making it one of the regions busiest specialist urology centres.
As part of its strategic expansion the hospital seeks an exceptional Consultant Urologist with a passion for Endourology Laser Surgery Minimally Invasive Surgery and Robotic Urology.
This opportunity is ideal for a consultant who already possesses foundational endourological skills and is eager to develop into an internationally competitive endourologist through structured local and overseas training.

The Consultant Urologist will provide specialist diagnostic medical and surgical management for a broad spectrum of urological conditions while contributing to the continued growth of the hospitals advanced endourology programme.
The successful candidate should be competent in Urethrocystoscopy and possess experience in basic endourological procedures with a strong desire to master advanced minimally invasive and robotic surgical techniques.
Candidates demonstrating commitment discipline and long-term career aspirations will have access to extensive local and international subspecialty training.
The successful candidate will:
- Provide specialist consultation diagnosis treatment and long-term management of adult urological diseases.
- Independently perform Urethrocystoscopy and other diagnostic endoscopic procedures.
- Perform elective and emergency urological surgeries.
- Carry out basic endourological procedures with opportunities to progress into advanced procedures.
- Diagnose and manage:
- Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia (BPH)
- Prostate Cancer
- Bladder Cancer
- Kidney Stones
- Ureteric Stones
- Renal Tumours
- Urinary Tract Disorders
- Male Infertility
- Erectile Dysfunction
- Urological Trauma
- Urinary Incontinence
- Perform outpatient consultations ward rounds inpatient reviews and post-operative follow-up.
- Manage urological emergencies including urinary retention obstructive uropathy renal colic haematuria and trauma.
- Participate in multidisciplinary tumour board meetings and collaborative patient care.
- Supervise junior doctors residents and theatre staff.
- Maintain accurate clinical documentation and operative records.
- Participate in clinical governance mortality reviews quality assurance and departmental audits.
- Contribute to teaching research and continuous medical education.
- Support the strategic development of the hospitals minimally invasive and robotic urology programme.
Applicants should possess:
- MBBS or equivalent medical qualification.
- Fellowship of the West African College of Surgeons (FWACS) National Postgraduate Medical College (FMCS) or equivalent recognised international qualification in Urology.
- Current Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria (MDCN) practising licence (or eligibility where applicable).
- Demonstrable competence in Urethrocystoscopy.
- Good understanding of basic endourological procedures.
- Excellent clinical judgement and surgical decision-making.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

- Urethrocystoscopy
- TURBT (Transurethral Resection of Bladder Tumour)
- TURP (Transurethral Resection of the Prostate)
- HoLEP (Holmium Laser Enucleation of the Prostate)
- Laser Prostate Surgery
- PCNL (Percutaneous Nephrolithotomy)
- Mini-PCNL
- RIRS (Retrograde Intrarenal Surgery)
- Flexible Ureteroscopy
- Laser Lithotripsy
- Laparoscopic Urological Surgery
- Robot-Assisted Radical Prostatectomy
- Robotic Partial Nephrectomy
- Robotic Cystectomy
- Advanced Endourological Procedures
Candidates who possess only foundational experience but demonstrate exceptional commitment to advanced training are strongly encouraged to apply.
- Minimum of 35 years post-fellowship experience in specialist urology practice.
- Demonstrated experience performing diagnostic and operative urological procedures.
- Previous experience in a tertiary hospital or high-volume surgical centre is preferred.
- Exposure to minimally invasive surgery will be an added advantage.
