What Does a Transmission Line Mechanic Do
Transmission Line Mechanics are responsible for constructing maintaining inspecting and repairing the high-voltage transmission lines that carry electricity throughout New Zealand.
As a trainee youll work alongside experienced professionals who will teach you the technical skills needed to work on transmission towers and associated infrastructure. Over time youll gain the knowledge and experience to work safely at height use specialist equipment and contribute to essential projects that help power homes businesses and communities.
This is not your typical Monday-to-Friday office job. Youll be part of a team working in a variety of environments from remote rural locations and farmland to hills forests and rugged terrain.
What to Expect
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys variety adventure and working outdoors. You can expect to:
- Travel to project sites throughout the region and across New Zealand when required
- Spend periods working away from home with accommodation and allowances provided where applicable
- Work in remote and rural environments often accessing transmission towers located off the beaten track
- Work outdoors in a range of weather conditions including wind rain heat and cold
- Climb towers and work at height while following industry-leading safety procedures
- Be part of a close-knit team where everyone looks out for each other

Were Looking For People Who:

- Are physically fit and comfortable carrying out manual work
- Are not afraid of heights
- Can work away from home when required
- Value teamwork safety and reliability
- Hold a Full Class 1 Driver Licence (preferred but not essential)
