About the Role

The Gastrointestinal Endoscopy Unit is a dynamicpatient-focused service providing a wide range of diagnostic and interventionalendoscopy procedures. As the Team Coordinator for endoscope reprocessing youwill work 8-hour shifts Monday to Friday between the hours of 7:30am-6:00pm.

In this role you will work within a highly skilledmultidisciplinary team leading and coordinating endoscope reprocessing resourcesto meet the needs of both internal and external stakeholders.

This is a fast-paced clinical environment where flexibilitystrong clinical judgement and excellent teamwork are essential.

About the Service

The Gastrointestinal Endoscopy Unit undertakes more than14000 diagnostic and interventional procedures annually and providesspecialised gastrointestinal and respiratory services to the Canterburypopulation. The service also acts as a secondary and tertiary referral centrefor the South Island.

The unit operates from a purpose-built facility atChristchurch Hospital featuring eight procedure rooms two recovery areas andtwo reprocessing areas across two floors. The service also provides specialist endoscopy equipment toother areas of the hospital campus including Waipapa Parkside OperatingTheatres Interventional Radiology and ICU.

In addition to clinical excellence the service has a strongresearch programme recognised internationally and an active undergraduate andpostgraduate teaching programme.

About You

As a Team Coordinator in this service you will bring strongsterile sciences knowledge and experience and the ability to effectivelycoordinate people and resources.

You will also have:

  • Current NZSSA Registration which maintained every 2 years
  • At least 5 years experience working in a sterile sciences or endoscope reprocessing environment.
  • Knowledge of AS/NZS 5369:2021 Reprocessing of reusable medical devices and other devices in health and non-health related facilities.
  • Level 5 Sterilising Technology Course Certificate
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • The ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team
