Mō te tūranga What youll be doing
As a summer intern with Meridian Energy youll get the opportunity to work on some of New Zealands most iconic hydro and/or wind generation assets as well as being active in all aspects of the company. The programme will push you to develop real-life business and technical skills.
We only take a small number of interns each year and we only want the best! In return well make sure you get some great hands-on experience. Youll be trusted with owning real projects that contribute to how we generate deliver and support energy across Aotearoa and will be supported by a friendly team of experts along the way who will help develop your knowledge skills and professional profile.

Youll gain hands-on exposure at our key generation sites work shoulder-to-shoulder with seasoned engineers and solve real-world challenges that span different hydro and wind generation systems. This 400-professional hour placement doesnt just tick the box for your university requirements - it offers immersive learning across engineering and other Generation and Development business teams. Along the way youll uncover the inner workings of Aotearoas energy systems and see firsthand what it takes to keep the country powered.
What are we after
Were keen to hear from students across a variety of disciplines currently in your 3rd (penultimate) year of a relevant degree who are curious and passionate about the electricity industry.
Weve got a strong culture - we like to work hard and have fun whilst were doing it. We live by three How to Bes: Be gutsy be a good human and be in the waka.
Some of our intern roles may require a full clean drivers license particularly when regular travel to generation sites is part of the role.
