AboutWhāraurau Mō mātou
Whāraurau is a national government fundedworkforce development centre for those working in infant child and youthmental health and addiction services across the spectrum of care (primary NGOKaupapa Māori and Te Whatu Ora services).

Whāraurau is part of the Wise Charitable Trustwhich together with its charitable subsidiary companies is known as the WiseGroup. Whāraurau focuses on workforce development for the mental health andwellbeing of infants children and youth and those who care for them. Theservice provides national regional and local training across sectorleadership and trauma informed approaches. There are many integrated workforceactivities and Whāraurau works alongside three other Te Whatu Ora funded mentalhealth and addiction workforce development centres.

Whāraurau works across the spectrum of mentalhealth care (primary NGO kaupapa Māori and Te Whatu Ora services) and acrosschild service sectors (i.e. Education Oranga Tamariki etc.) and the highlyskilled staff are multidisciplinary and multicultural.

Stepinto a senior clinical leadership role within a high-performing collaborativeteam dedicated to making evidence-based practice-informed ICAMH workforcedevelopment accessible and relevant for our workforce across Aotearoa.

We arelooking for an experienced clinician who brings advanced clinical knowledgespecialist expertise and a passion for workforce development. This roleprovides clinical leadership to inform the design development and delivery ofworkforce development initiatives that strengthen the capability of thoseworking with pēpi tamariki rangatahi and their whānau.

You will bring specialist clinical expertise inareas such as neurodiversity and applied therapeutic skills in maternalinfant child and youth mental health and addiction helping to shape learningthat is evidence-informed practical and responsive to workforce needs. Workingacross primary NGO kaupapa Māori and specialist services you will supportthe development of programmes that improve outcomes for tamariki and whānau.

In this fixed-term opportunity you will developand facilitate workforce development initiatives in online and face-to-facesettings reaching kaimahi with a broad range of skills and experience. Youwill support the translation of learning into practice through implementationapproaches communities of practice clinical consultation and supervisionwhere appropriate.

This is an opportunity to use your clinicalexpertise in a different way supporting practitioners services and the widerworkforce to build confidence capability and consistency in their work withinfants children young people and whānau.

This is a fixed-term position ending September2027. You will be working 8 hours per day up to 3 days per week. This role canbe based in either Auckland Wellington or Christchurch.

To be successful in this role you will bring:

• A relevant advanced postgraduate clinical qualification within maternal infant child youth and mental health and addiction fields such as psychology social work psychiatry occupational therapy or mental health nursing.
• Current professional registration and practising certificate where applicable.
• 10 years post-qualification experience in infant child and youth mental health and wellbeing and addiction fields.
• Extensive experience and knowledge of maternal infant child youth and family/whānau mental health and addiction.
• Demonstrated clinical expertise in one or more specialist practice areas including neurodiversity infant and maternal mental health or therapeutic interventions relevant to infant child and youth mental health and addiction.
• Experience designing developing and facilitating clinical education workforce development initiatives or practice-based learning programmes.
• Demonstrated ability to translate contemporary evidence and advanced clinical knowledge into practical learning resources programmes and tools for the workforce.
• Understanding of adult learning principles and effective approaches to supporting practice change.
• Experience in the Aotearoa New Zealand mental health and addiction sector with knowledge of workforce needs and emerging issues.
• Excellent interpersonal facilitation and written communication skills.
• Ability to work across cultures and in a manner that values and respects diversity.
• Understanding of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and a commitment to equity-focused and culturally responsive practice.
• Willingness to travel nationally as required.
