The Role
BGIS is seeking a Quality Specialist to join our team in Dunedin supporting the delivery of high-quality maintenance services and exceptional customer outcomes across residential properties and client facilities. This role is responsible for scoping works conducting quality assurance inspections completing work-in-progress checks and ensuring maintenance activities are delivered safely efficiently and to the highest standards.
Working closely with contractors trades clients and internal stakeholders youll play a critical role in improving quality outcomes driving compliance identifying trends and supporting continuous improvement initiatives. This opportunity would suit an experienced tradesperson looking to move into a quality and inspections-focused role or someone with a strong building construction or maintenance background who understands how buildings come together how maintenance activities are sequenced and how assets are managed throughout their lifecycle.
With approximately 80% of your time spent on-site and 20% focused on administration and reporting this role offers the perfect balance of field-based inspections stakeholder engagement and quality-driven problem-solving.

What Youll Be Doing
  • Undertake detailed scoping of maintenance and repair works in accordance with required standards and specifications
  • Conduct quality assurance inspections to ensure works are completed correctly the first time
  • Perform work-in-progress inspections to monitor quality safety and project timelines
  • Review contractor workmanship performance and compliance requirements
  • Provide coaching guidance and feedback to contractors and trades where quality issues are identified
  • Monitor project progress and ensure scope timelines and deliverables are achieved
  • Identify quality trends risks and improvement opportunities and escalate findings where required
  • Ensure compliance with safety requirements company policies building standards and relevant legislation
  • Maintain accurate documentation inspection reports photos and supporting records
  • Liaise with clients contractors and internal stakeholders to ensure exceptional customer outcomes
  • Assist in resolving quality invoicing and workmanship concerns
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and best practice service delivery
Your Education Experience & Skills
  • Experience within construction maintenance facilities management housing project delivery or property services environments
  • Trade background highly regarded; however a formal trade qualification is not essential
  • Strong understanding of how buildings are constructed maintained and repaired throughout their lifecycle
  • Ability to understand maintenance processes work sequencing contractor dependencies and project timeframes
  • Experience conducting site inspections quality assurance activities or contractor oversight
  • Strong understanding of quality control compliance risk management and safety requirements
  • Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities
  • Strong organisational and time management skills
  • Ability to accurately scope works and identify maintenance requirements
  • Confident using technology including Microsoft Office tablets and mobile devices
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Passion for delivering exceptional customer service and quality outcomes
  • Current New Zealand Driver Licence (essential)
  • Current New Zealand working rights (essential)
