As a Junior Business Insight Analyst you will play a key role in turning data into actionable insights that support informed decision-making across KiwiRail.

Working as part of the Business Information team you will collaborate with stakeholders to understand business challenges uncover opportunities and deliver meaningful reporting and analysis to enhance performance. Youll engage with a variety of data sources and tools while contributing to the development of dashboards reports and business intelligence solutions that add value to the organisation.

This role is well suited to someone looking to grow their career in business intelligence analytics and stakeholder engagement within a large and complex environment.

Key responsibilities include:

• Design develop and maintain reports dashboards and BI solutions

• Analyse data and provide clear insights and recommendations

• Deliver both regular and ad hoc reporting

• Partner with stakeholders to understand business requirements

• Support business analysis and problem-solving initiatives

• Assist with data quality cleansing and governance processes

• Contribute to BI projects and continuous improvement initiatives

• Provide clear commentary to help stakeholders interpret business performance
• Manage and Administer Support requests via JIRA Incident Management

Were looking for a curious and analytical individual with a passion for data and solving business problems. You will bring:

• Around 2 years experience in business intelligence analytics reporting or a related field

• Proven experience developing reports and dashboards using Power BI (or similar data visualisation tools)

• A relevant tertiary qualification in Commerce Science Statistics Information Systems Computer Science or equivalent practical experience

• Strong understanding of database technologies and data management principles

• Advanced Microsoft Excel and Office skills

• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities

• The ability to communicate insights clearly both verbally and in writing

• Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build effective relationships across diverse stakeholders

• A proactive mindset with a commitment to continuous learning and improvement

• Strong focus on documentation and process improvement.

It would be advantageous if you also have:

• Knowledge of data warehousing concepts and methodologies

• Familiarity with governance compliance or regulated environments

• Experience working with large and complex datasets

• Experience with JIRA & Confluence
