ABOUT THE ROLE
Launching a rocket and operating satellites requires a symphony of multiple teams sites and complex systems working together in perfect harmony. The Integrated Operations team are the personnel at the helm in Mission Control making strategic and important real-time decisions that enable the mission and ensure all parts are functioning asrequiredto fulfil missionobjectives.
An operations engineering intern on the Integrated Operations team willbe responsible forthe creation maintenance deployment and support of new launch operations software tools. These tools shall improve how operators interact with their systems view real-time data and aid them in successfully fulfilling missionobjectives.
This is an opportunity to work on real space technology projects and contribute to missions that areliterally reachingfor the stars.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
HMI Development:
- Correctly reflect as-built hardware in developed tools
- Develop thorough documentation for the effective operation and use of newly developed HMIs
- Review and approve source code merge requests
- Keep tickets up to dateregardingwork in progress
- Coordinate thoroughly with stakeholders. Apply feedback and iterate on HMI development
- Lead the demonstration of developed products to stakeholders
- Deploy software
- Train software product users
HMI Deployment:
- Development of test plansrequiredfor HMI commissioning
- Detailed and thorough commissioning of HMI
- Development of detailed and thorough commissioning documentation
- Coach launch operations personnel on the use of developed products
- Oversee use of HMI on Electron launch operations
- Collaborate with engineers and team members across multiple departments
- Participate in team meetings and contribute innovative ideas
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
MUST HAVE:
- Currently enrolled and progressing towards a Tertiary Diploma Certificate or degree in Mechanical Aerospace or Mechatronics Engineering
- Experience with Python programming
- Strong communicationand interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team
- Passion for aerospace space technology and innovation
NICE TO HAVE:
- Demonstrated excellence in teamwork autonomy and delivery of project milestones withinallocatedtimelines
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Detailed understanding of fluids mechanics in applications such as hydraulics and HVAC systems
- Detailed understanding of control systems engineering and the use of PLCs in industrial engineering
- An understanding of Human Factors Engineering
- Previousinternship or project experience in software development or operations
- Experience with HMI (Human-Machine Interface) development
