Job Summary

The role youll play. 

Help shape the future of fleet technology within one of New Zealands largest and most diverse commercial fleets.

As a Technical Support Engineer you will be involved in the development integration deployment and continuous improvement of technology solutions across our vehicle fleet including both conventional and electric vehicles. From designing electrical systems and developing new technologies through to testing commissioning data analysis and ongoing technical support youll play a key role in bringing innovative ideas into real-world operation.

Working closely with engineers technicians suppliers and operational teams you will help deliver technology solutions that improve vehicle performance reliability safety and operational efficiency.

This role is ideally suited to an intermediate engineer however exceptional junior engineers with the right attitude and desire to learn are encouraged to apply.

Youll enjoy solving complex problems developing new technologies and seeing your work implemented across operational vehicles and fleet technology this fast-moving environment innovation is encouraged priorities evolve and youll gain exposure to the full engineering lifecycle from concept and development through to deployment support and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities.

Fleet Technology Development

  • Design and develop fleet technology solutions in house 3d printing electrical systems circuit boards and wiring harnesses.
  • Support prototype development testing commissioning and deployment activities.
  • Integrate sensors control systems telematics and vehicle electronics into fleet applications.
  • Develop technical documentation specifications and implementation plans.

Vehicle Integration & Project Delivery

  • Support technology projects from concept through to deployment.
  • Coordinate component selection procurement supplier engagement and technical deliverables.
  • Work closely with technicians suppliers OEMs and operational teams to deliver successful outcomes.
  • Assist with vehicle testing field trials and technology rollouts.

Technical Support & Failure Analysis

  • Provide technical support for deployed fleet technology systems electric vehicles and charging infrastructure.
  • Investigate faults and perform root cause analysis using diagnostic tools and operational data.
  • Support field technicians with troubleshooting and technical guidance.
  • Drive improvements that enhance fleet reliability uptime and performance.

Data & Reporting

  • Analyse vehicle telematics and system performance data.
  • Prepare technical reports fault investigations and performance summaries.
  • Identify trends and opportunities for continuous improvement.
  • Support reporting tools dashboards and performance metrics.

Qualifications :

What youll need. 

You will likely have a few years of engineering experience and be ready to take the next step in your career. We are primarily seeking an intermediate engineer however exceptional junior engineers with the right attitude aptitude and desire to learn are encouraged to apply.

Are you technically curious enjoy solving complex problems and are excited by the opportunity to develop technology that is deployed into operational vehicles and fleet technology systems. You take a practical approach to engineering communicate effectively with a wide range of stakeholders and enjoy seeing projects through from concept and development to deployment and continuous improvement.

You will ideally have experience or interest in:

  • Degree in Electrical mechatronics or automotive electronics.
  • Circuit design and electrical system integration.
  • Wiring harness design and documentation.
  • Technical troubleshooting and fault finding.
  • Data analysis and technical reporting.
  • Supplier engagement and technical project delivery.
  • Producing clear technical documentation.

Desirable Skills

  • PCB design using Altium Designer or similar software.
  • CAN Bus and J1939 vehicle communications.
  • PLC programming and industrial control systems.
  • Python C or similar programming languages.
  • CAD design and experience with 3d printing
  • Vehicle telematics and diagnostics.
  • Electric vehicle systems and charging infrastructure.
  • Embedded electronics and control systems.
