Job Summary

AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design planning delivery and operation of all AWS global other words were the people who keep the cloud running. We support all AWS data centers and all of the servers storage networking power and cooling equipment that ensure our customers have continual access to the innovation tools they rely on. This is a unique opportunity to join AWS as a Data Centre Engineering Operations Technician (EOT) in Auckland. You will support our Data Centre facilities and the critical equipment that keeps us running. This includes LV electrical lineups diesel power generators HVAC and fire suppression systems. You will be responsible for the day-to-day operations and maintenance of the critical infrastructure supervising colocation and specialist vendors acting as first responders to incidents and becoming subject matter experts for the facility.

Key job responsibilities
As a Data Center Engineering Operations Technician your responsibilities will include:
- Manage your site including the collocation vendor and associated sub-contractors ensuring that all work is performed to AWS high standards observing established practices procedures & local legislation.
- Reviewing the management of both routine and corrective maintenance on a variety of critical systems such as: switch gear generators UPS systems power distribution equipment chillers cooling towers computer room air handlers building monitoring systems etc.
- Establish performance benchmarks conduct analyses & prepare reports on all aspects of the critical facility infrastructure operations & maintenance.
- Create and implement projects to increase current facility capacity efficiency sustainability & reliability.

Additional role requirements
- This role may involve bending lifting stretching and reaching ascending and descending ladders stairs and gangways safely
- This role has a rostered on-call requirement to provide 24x7 support. This may change based on the future needs of the business
- Must have suitable IT skills with knowledge and experience using Microsoft applications.
- Due to the location of our sites candidates should possess a valid drivers license and their own vehicle.

- 4 years of relevant work in a data center or other critical environment experience
- 5 years of Microsoft Office including Outlook Word and Excel experience
- Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering Mechanical Engineering or a related field
- Experience in vendor management

- 3 years of construction or project management experience
- Electrical or mechanical Journeyman License
- operating engineering license such as DC II DC III or equivalent
- Experience in construction or project management
