Compactor & Bin Workshop Manager

About the role

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Compactor & Bin Workshop Manager to lead our East Tamaki workshop operations. This role is central to the performance safety compliance and commercial effectiveness of our compactor and bin maintenance repair refurbishment and build functions.

The successful candidate will work closely with the current workshop supervisor to gain detailed knowledge of compactors customer requirements workshop processes and sales expectations while building leadership continuity and technical depth for the future.

Reporting to the Head of Maintenance your responsibilities will include:

• Leading the Compactor and Bin Workshop teams to deliver safe efficient high-quality maintenance repair refurbishment and fabrication activities.
• Managing preventative maintenance inspection repair and rebuild programmes for compactors bins containers and associated equipment.
• Providing technical leadership and escalation support across mechanical electrical hydraulic and fabrication-related issues.
• Working closely with the current supervisor to capture practical compactor knowledge customer-specific requirements and workshop best practice.
• Building strong relationships with Operations Sales Customer Service Finance Technical HSEQ suppliers and contractors.
• Driving workshop planning workflow management prioritisation and productivity improvements to improve turnaround time and asset availability.
• Managing parts consumables equipment external service providers budgets KPIs and workshop performance.
• Coaching and developing supervisors and workshop staff while maintaining a strong safety-first culture.
• Identifying opportunities to improve reliability reduce downtime strengthen compliance and enhance customer outcomes.
• Participating in after-hours responsibilities as required.
• Customer facing responsibilities to support the sales team in a technical capacity where required

Qualifications :

About you

You are a practical commercially aware workshop leader who combines strong technical expertise with the ability to lead people improve processes and deliver great customer outcomes.

To be successful in this role you will bring:

• Mechanical or electrical engineering experience with strong working knowledge of hydraulic systems.
• Significant experience in repairs maintenance workshop leadership asset management or a similar technical environment.
• Strong understanding of preventative maintenance workflow management maintenance planning and workshop productivity.
• Experience leading people developing capability managing performance and building a positive team culture.
• Sound commercial acumen including experience managing budgets costs suppliers contractors and operational performance.
• Strong stakeholder management skills across Operations Sales Technical HSEQ and customer-facing teams.
• A strong commitment to health safety environmental and quality standards.
• A current New Zealand drivers licence.

Ideally you will also have experience with compactors bins containers fixed plant fabrication welding mechanical repairs electrical controls CMMS or maintenance management systems.

Most importantly you are a hands-on leader who enjoys solving problems building capable teams improving systems and delivering operational excellence.
