Job Summary

The Opportunity

AECOM is seeking an experienced Civil Engineer Roading to play a key leadership role in Section One delivery of the Northland Corridor a designated Road of National Significance being delivered through a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model.

This is far more than a traditional design role.

Youll sit at the centre of a complex multidisciplinary project leading the coordination and delivery of key local road packages while bringing together design construction maintenance and operational requirements into a fully integrated transport solution.

Success in this role will come from your ability to navigate complexity build strong relationships and align technical operational and delivery requirements to achieve outstanding project outcomes.

This opportunity is focused on project coordination design package leadership and multidisciplinary integration. Youll work with drainage utilities structures and other roading teams helping manage complex delivery interfaces and ensuring successful outcomes throughout the design delivery.

How youll add impact

As a team member within the project you will:

  • Support the design and delivery of local roads or state highway and associated civil infrastructure as part of Section One delivery of the Northland Corridor project.
  • Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams across drainage utilities structures and geotechnical disciplines.
  • Assist in managing design interfaces and ensuring alignment between project workstreams.
  • Prepare design documentation drawings reports and technical deliverables.
  • Support senior engineers in collaborating with clients and contractors.
  • Deliver designs compliant with relevant standards and project requirements.
  • Work collaboratively with senior engineers and project leads to manage project risks and technical challenges.
  • Contribute to Section One delivery of the Northland Corridor and other strategically important transport projects.
  • Champion collaboration quality and continuous improvement throughout project delivery.

Qualifications :

What youll bring

Were looking for a motivated Civil Engineer who combines strong technical capability with a collaborative approach and a desire to work on complex infrastructure projects.

To be considered for this role you must have:

  • Bachelors degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline within a tertiary institute.
  • 3 years experience delivering state highway transport infrastructure or local roads projects in New Zealand or Australia.
  • Experience in civil design within a consulting or contractor or client organisation.
  • Experience working within multidisciplinary project teams.
  • Familiarity working with stakeholders including clients network utilities operators and approval authorities.
  • Experience using at least one industry-standard design software such as 12d Civil 3D OpenRoads or AutoCAD.
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
  • A collaborative mindset and willingness to learn from experienced technical leaders.

The following though not essential would be highly advantageous:

  • Waka Kotahi NZTA Auckland Council or Auckland Transport project experience.
  • Understanding of the Auckland Council Transport Design Manual (TDM).
  • Familiarity with local authority standards specifications and approval processes.
  • Experience working on transportation or major infrastructure projects.
  • Progress towards professional registration or chartership.
  • Experience supporting projects through construction delivery.
