Hours: 9:00am - 1:00pm Mondays and / or Tuesdays (Volunteer Position)

Location: Christchurch Central

Are you passionate about preserving history and ensuring important stories are safeguarded for future generations We are seeking a dedicated Volunteer Archivist to join our small but committed team and help care for our extensive collection of heritage artefacts and memorabilia.

This rewarding role offers the opportunity to work hands-on with a unique collection that includes medals uniforms medical equipment photographs documents records and other historical items that reflect the rich heritage of our organisation.

As a volunteer Archivist you will assist with the recording cataloguing documenting and archiving of a large and diverse collection of historical materials. Your work will help ensure these valuable items can be accurately identified preserved searched for and accessed when needed.

Key responsibilities include:

• Identifying and documenting heritage artefacts and memorabilia.
• Cataloguing collections to improve searchability and accessibility.
• Assisting with the organisation and storage of historical items.
• Maintaining accurate records and archival documentation.

Qualifications :

Ko wai koe - About you:

• Has a strong interest in history heritage museums archives or record management.
• Possesses excellent attention to detail and organisational skills.
• Is comfortable working with large volumes of information and historical items.
• Can accurately record and maintain data and records.
• Previous archives museum library records management or research experience is desirable.
• A reasonable level of physical fitness.
