Skilled Operative

The Role

To carry out tasks set by site supervisors and gangers to a high level of safety standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Understand all relevant risk and method statements
• Use best/safe practice on all tasks carried out
• Checks are conducted on equipment that may be used
• Installing drainage laying concrete kerbs and pavements and carrying out excavation and groundworks digging trenches loading and unloading materials
• Ensure a safe tidy place of work
• Implement best practice procedures
• Maximise use of own working time
• Ensure signed up for all permits and briefings before commencing any work
• Communicate with the site supervisor on any concerns
• Feedback to site management with near-miss reporting
• Ensure you attend all site briefings forums and toolbox talks
• Deputise for conducting briefings and toolbox talks

Essential:

• Experience in general civil work (earthwork drainage ducting kerbing and concreting)
• CSCS card
• Either CPCS forward tipping dumper/ slinger signaller/ride on roller/360 excavator/telehandler

Desireable:

• SSSTS/SMSTS
• ½ day environmental awareness
• NRSWA
