The Vendor Manager is responsible for the end-to-end management of third-party IT vendors covering sourcing contracting performance management and regulatory compliance to the IT Services (ITS) unit in Atradius. The role ensures that vendor relationships deliver measurable business value while meeting strict regulatory risk and operational standards typical for an international insurance environment.

The position operates at the intersection of IT Procurement Legal and Risk with a strong focus on governance cost optimisation and compliance with frameworks such as DORA GDPR and third-party risk management standards.

The role reports directly to the Head of Sourcing and Vendor Management ITS and can be based in Amsterdam Madrid (preference) or Cardiff.

Key Responsibilities

1. IT Sourcing & Procurement

  • Lead sourcing initiatives for IT services including SaaS infrastructure application development and outsourcing.
  • Define sourcing strategies aligned with business and IT roadmaps.
  • Run RFP / RFQ processes including vendor selection evaluation criteria and commercial benchmarking.l
  • Negotiate commercial terms pricing models and licensing structures (e.g. subscription consumption-based FTE-based).
  • Drive cost optimisation initiatives including vendor consolidation and demand management.

2. Contract & Commercial Management

  • Own the full lifecycle of vendor contracts including drafting negotiation execution and renewal.
  • Ensure contracts align with internal contracting standards and legal guidelines (e.g. liability IP termination rights audit rights).
  • Together with the Service Owner define and maintain SLA / KPI frameworks including service credits and performance incentives.
  • Manage contract deviations and risk acceptance processes.
  • Oversee financial governance including invoicing cost tracking and budget adherence.

3. Vendor Performance Management

  • Establish and maintain vendor governance frameworks including QBRs service reviews and escalation mechanisms.
  • Monitor vendor performance against SLAs KPIs and contractual obligations.
  • Drive continuous improvement and innovation initiatives with strategic vendors.
  • Manage operational issues disputes and escalations to resolution.
  • Ensure value realization from vendor engagements.

4. Risk Compliance & Regulatory Oversight

  • Ensure vendor compliance with regulatory requirements (e.g. DORA GDPR outsourcing guidelines).
  • Conduct and maintain third-party risk assessments including security data protection and operational resilience.
  • Coordinate due diligence onboarding and periodic vendor reviews.
  • Maintain documentation for audits and regulatory reporting.
  • Ensure appropriate exit strategies and business continuity provisions are in place.

5. Stakeholder & Relationship Management

  • Act as the primary interface between IT Procurement Legal Risk and external vendors.
  • Support IT and business stakeholders in defining requirements and vendor strategies.
  • Build strategic partnerships with key vendors while maintaining strong commercial governance.
  • Provide advisory on vendor capabilities market trends and sourcing strategies.

6. Governance & Reporting

  • Maintain vendor inventory and segmentation (strategic critical non-critical).
  • Track and report on vendor performance risks costs and contract status.
  • Support internal governance forums and decision-making bodies.
  • Contribute to vendor management policies processes and tooling improvements.

Required Profile

Experience

  • Have a minimum of three years experience of vendor management preferably within financial services IT and preferably including managing providers of outsourced and Cloud services;
  • Experience in regulated industries (insurance banking financial services preferred)
  • Proven track record in negotiating complex IT contracts and managing strategic vendors
  • A clear communicator both written and verbal with good presentational skills fluent and proficient in the English language.

Skills

  • Strong commercial negotiation and contract management skills
  • Knowledge of IT sourcing categories (SaaS cloud infrastructure software licensing)
  • Understanding of regulatory frameworks (DORA GDPR outsourcing regulations)
  • Vendor performance management and governance experience
  • Financial acumen including cost modelling and TCO analysis
  • Stakeholder management at senior levels
