Europe SA/NV is headquartered in Brussel and while we are international in our outlook we are also proudly local in our operations with our Dutch office in Amsterdam which we started 3 years ago. We have been growing rapidly since. To support the Amsterdam office we are looking for a Senior People Country Manager in the Netherlands. This is a unique opportunity to be part of a successful organisation with growth ambitions to become a market-leading commercial insurer. Reporting to the Head of People Country Management you will work closely with the wider International People function and support the local QBE entity (part of QBE European Operations) to provide high quality practical support to leaders on People matters processes and compliance. The position is based in the Netherlands and includes responsibility for supporting People Services across additional countries as part of a broader regional remit.
Your new role
You will lead the delivery of the People agenda in the Netherlands while providing oversight and support to local people teams in other European countries partnering closely with leadership to build capability strengthen culture and ensure compliant and efficient People operations across multiple countries.
. Key responsibilities include:
- Successfully manage annual processes (e.g. salary review annual bonus performance cycle headcount and people cost budgeting) to ensure effective timely and compliant delivery.
- Define and implement the local People strategy with local management aligned to enterprise and regional priorities.
- Promote and embed QBE values and essential behaviours (QBE DNA) through leadership coaching engagement actions and daytoday People practice.
Culture talent and leadership
- Help define and implement actions across development planning coaching training succession planning and identification of key talent.
- Attract develop and retain a highquality team in the Netherlands with the knowledge and skills to deliver excellent People outcomes and service.
- Support recruitment retention and performance management practices ensuring role clarity (jobdescriptions/evaluations)and a strong work environment.
Employee relations compliance and governance
- Coach educate and support business leaders on employee relations issues and projects ensuring practical flexible and commercial solutions.
- For all People-related matters ensure followup of legal aspects by staying up to date with new legislation anticipating impacts and taking necessary actions; maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
Reward and benefits
- Apply QBE Group remuneration policy and support all local legal requirements (e.g. local legislation tax rulings sector and company collective agreements where applicable); optimise benefits in line with market practice.
- Ensure reward and People processes are delivered accurately and consistently supported by strong data controls and disciplined governance.
- Comply with all relevant local regulatory requirements and applicable group requirements (including where applicable Lloyds PRA and FCA).
Projects and continuous improvement
- Represent the local entity in projects and initiatives ensuring local requirements are understood and successfully implemented; lead and project manage People change initiatives within your area of responsibility.
- Oversee the monitoring and review of People processes to identify improvements enhance efficiency and reflect latest developments and best practice; actively undertake personal development and network internally and externally to share knowledge and improve performance.
Your profile
- Proven experience as a People Country Manager (or equivalent senior HR/People lead) preferably within a (regulated/financial) Services industry and ideally in an international matrix organisation environment.
- High level of written and spoken Dutch and English.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to set direction and deliver through others.
- Excellent communicator with strong facilitation influencing and negotiation skills.
- Ability to develop and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Excellent presentation skills (oral and written).
- Team management experience is a nice to have.
- Ability to architect strategy alongside handson operational execution.
- Competence to build and effectively manage interpersonal relationships at all levels of the company.
- Indepth knowledge of Dutch labour law and HR best practices.
- Change management capability and experience leading initiatives in complex environments.
