About the Role
The Senior Corporate Counsel will serve as the primary legal resource for YETIs European region based in Amsterdam with a core focus on supporting the Commercial organization. This rolewill spendapproximately60-70% oftime on commercial contracting and deal support andreports totheUS-basedDeputyGeneral Counsel and partners closely with the European team to deliver strategic business-oriented legal guidance that supports growth while managing risk.
This role requires in-depth legalexpertiseand the ability to exercise independent judgment on complex high-impact matters often with long-term implications for the business. As the sole legal representative in the region the individual mustoperatewith minimal direction proactivelyidentifyingrisksand escalatingissuesadvising onstrategy and driving scalable legal solutions.
This position demands a versatile legal professional capable of navigating a broad range of legal domains beyond commercial contracting including regulatory employment compliance and corporate matters while influencing stakeholders across a matrixed global organization.
As the first legal hire in the region this role willhelpestablishand scale YETIs EU legal function developing pragmatic processes and structures aligned with global legal standards.
What Youll Do
- Draft review redline negotiate and manage a wide range of complex commercial agreements including sales distribution vendor marketing licensing and strategic partnership agreements.
- Serve as a trusted advisor to EU Commercial leadership providing proactive strategic legal guidance aligned with regional and global businessobjectives.
- Independently assess legal and business risks in ambiguous or non-routine situations recommending practical scalable solutions with long-term impact.
- Partner closely with the global Legal& Complianceteam toalign onlegal strategy risk toleranceinvestigationsand governance acrossjurisdictions.
- Provide legal support across multiple domains including employment regulatory compliance marketing and advertising consumer protection and data privacy (GDPR)in coordination with global subject matter experts where applicable.
- Interpret evolvingEU andUKlaws and regulations and translate requirements into clear actionable business guidance.
- Develop implement and continuously improve regional legalpolicies andprocesses templates and contracting frameworks to drive efficiency and consistency.
- Act as the primary point of contact for legal matters in theUKandEU building strong relationships with cross-functional stakeholders (Sales Marketing HR Finance Supply Chain).
- Manage and oversee outside counsel across EUjurisdictions ensuring cost-effective and high-quality legal support.
- Lead or support strategic legal initiatives and cross-functional projects with regional and global impact.
- Deliver training and guidance to internal stakeholders on legal risk compliance and contracting best practices.
- Identifyemerging risks and opportunities escalatingappropriatelyand influencing decision-making at the management level.
- Establish clear escalation protocols for high-risk or sensitive matters and ensure alignment with global governance standards.
- Advise ondistribution models including selective distribution structures reseller frameworks and channel compliance across EU markets.
- Support product-related regulatory matters including consumer product compliance labeling and safety requirements
- Support regional compliance programs including anti-corruption third-party risk management and internal investigations as needed.
- Support U.S.-based global employment counsel in coordination with HR and external counsel.
- Supportlitigationmatters across Europe in national and EU courts.
- Lead or supportadditionalinitiatives to support the growth and maturity of the EU legal function.
What You Bring
- Fullyqualified topractice law in at least one EUjurisdictionrequired(Netherlands or UK preferred) with ability to advise across multiplejurisdictionswith support of local counsel.
- 10 years ofpost-qualificationlegal experience with significant focus on commercial contracting and in-house advisory work.
- 5 years Management experience
- Demonstrated deepexpertisein commercial law and contracting with the ability to handle complex strategic matters independently.
- Strong knowledge of EU regulatory frameworks including GDPR and consumer/commercial regulations.
- Proven ability tooperateautonomously with minimal supervision while collaborating effectively with leadership.
- Experience advising business leaders and influencing decisions through clear risk-based guidance.
- In-house experiencestronglypreferred; consumer products retail or global brand experience a plus.
- Demonstrated ability to lead complex commercialnegotiationswith senior stakeholders and counterparties.
- Exceptional judgment with the ability to balance legal business and reputational considerations.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to build relationships across a matrixed global organization and interact effectively with management-level stakeholders.
- Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver high-quality work in a fast-paced environment.
- Self-motivated and comfortable serving as the sole regional legal resourcedemonstratingownership and accountability.
- Demonstrated problem-solving mindset with a focus on practical business-oriented solutions.
- Fluency in Englishrequired;additionalEuropean language(s) preferred.
- Occasional travel within Europe and to U.S. headquarters may berequired.
