The Educational Technical Coordinator is a key contributor to the teaching team connecting students teachers researchers support personnel and the alumni into a strong community around the SNE master. The teaching team mostly consists of academic staff members embedded in the Informatics Institute that bring their research and state-of-the-art knowledge to the labs in a hands-on manner from laying down cables to forensic analysis of various devices.

This is what you will do

You will actively work with course coordinators and lecturers in developing their research-basedmaterial and labs for security and network engineering courses. This includes deployment of material and labs as well as helping students in relevant technologies (e.g. installing network setups/configurations using software/hardware hacking equipment setting up servers repositories. development environments and containers etc.). Additionally you will work closely with the Thesis Coordinator and the Program Director to support the student graduationprocess during their Masters programme.

Tasks and responsibilities:

  • Development and deployment of security and network engineering material and labs
  • Assisting monitoring progress and grading of student projects
  • Coordination of Master theses projects tracking and supporting student success
  • Helping manage the community around the Masters programme

What we ask of you

Your experience and profile:

  • MSc in Computer Science or equivalent
  • Technical experience in Computer Networks and/or Cybersecurity
  • Be a motivated teacher with a thorough and encouraging teaching style
  • Experience in supporting tasks and the willingness to take the responsibility for administrative tasks such as organisation and coordination of university education and research
  • Professional command of English

This is what we offer you

We offer a temporary employment contract for 38 hours per week for a period of 12 months with a probationary period of two months. The preferred starting date is as soon as possible. If we assess your performance positive a permanent contract will follow.

The gross monthly salary based on 38 hours per week and dependent on relevant experience ranges between 3708 to 5057 (scale 9) This does not include 8% holiday allowance and 83% year-end allowance. The UFO profile Education/Research officer 2 is applicable. A favourable tax agreement the 30% ruling may apply to non-Dutch applicants. The Collective Labour Agreement of Universities of the Netherlands is applicable.

You will work in this team

TheFaculty of Science has a student body of around 8000 as well as 1800 members of staff working in education research or support services. Researchers and students at the Faculty of Science are fascinated by every aspect of how the world works be it elementary particles the birth of the universe or the functioning of the brain.

The Informatics Institute is one of the seven educational institutes of the Faculty of Science (FNWI) and is responsible for the masters programmes in Artificial Intelligence Computational Science Computer Science Information Studies Software Engineering and System and Network Engineering in which currently at around 1400 students are enrolled. The education is provided by lecturers and researchers working within the GSI itself or at various research institutes including the Instituut voor Informatica (IvI) the Institute for Logic Language and Computation (ILLC) and the Korteweg-de Vries Instituut voor Wiskunde (KDV).
