We are currently looking for a Research Internto join the team in Delft in the Satellite Image Anomaly Detection - Climate Researchdomain.

Sinceearly 1970s meteorological agencies across the world do climate researchbased on geostationary satellite these images anomalies can occurfor example due to hardware errors. These anomalies have a wide variety order to take corrective actions anomaly detectors have beendeveloped.

As aResearch Intern you will contribute to the development of such detectors. For that you will beprovided with a large dataset (over 50 years of data) with a wide variety ofinstruments data formats and spatial resolutions as well as with access tosome of the models currently used.

Possibleresearch topics:

  • Missing pixel inpainting.
  • Classification and detection modelling.
  • Hurricane detection.
  • Image mask compression.
  • Foreground/background segmentation (between Earth Space pixels).
  • Satellite orbit reconstruction.

Main responsibilities


  • Support development of anomaly detectors for a large dataset with various instruments data formats and spatial resolutions.


Requirements


You will be the perfect match if you are:

  • Excited to dive into a cutting-edge topic for your masters thesis.
  • Studying Computer Science or Aerospace (or a related field).
  • Able to work independently and give direction to your own research.
  • Experienced with Python. Experience with Git is an advantage.
  • Passionate about satellite data and the fusion of Space & Computer Science.
  • Enrolled in a bachelors or masters program for the entire internship duration.
  • Preferably already based in the Netherlands.
  • Fluent in English.
  • Motivated eager to learn and ready to make an impact.
