Who we are supporting
The NATO Communication and Information Agency (NCIA) is responsible for providing secure and effective communications and information technology (IT) services to NATOs member countries and its partners. The agency was established in 2012 and is headquartered in Brussels Belgium.
The NCIA provides a wide range of services including:
- Cyber Security: The NCIA provides advanced cybersecurity solutions to protect NATOs communication networks and information systems against cyber threats.
- Command and Control Systems: The NCIA develops and maintains the systems used by NATOs military commanders to plan and execute operations.
- Satellite Communications: The NCIA provides satellite communications services to enable secure and reliable communications between NATO forces.
- Electronic Warfare: The NCIA provides electronic warfare services to support NATOs mission to detect deny and defeat threats to its communication networks.
- Information Management: The NCIA manages NATOs information technology infrastructure including its databases applications and servers.
Overall the NCIA plays a critical role in ensuring the security and effectiveness of NATOs communication and information technology capabilities.
The program
Assistance and Advisory Service (AAS)
The NATO Communications and Information Agency (NCI Agency) is NATOs principal C3 capability deliverer and CIS service provider. It provides maintains and defends the NATO enterprise-wide information technology infrastructure to enable Allies to consult together under Article IV and when required stand together in the face of attack under Article V.
To provide these critical services in the modern evolving dynamic environment the NCI Agency needs to build and maintain high performance-engaged workforce. The NCI Agency workforce strategically consists of three major categorises: NATO International Civilians (NIC)s Military (Mil) and Interim Workforce Consultants (IWC)s. The IWCs are a critical part of the overall NCI Agency workforce and make up approximately 15 percent of the total workforce.
Role Background
This 1st line REACH support technician is responsible for the first line support at
location Brunssum. This includes direct end user support and customer contact for
hand-out of end-user equipment and collection when a user leaves and resolution for
all EUD related incidents. You will manage timelines oversee administrative tasks and
collaborate with local technical Support team members as well as wider NCIA teams
Customer POCs and external companies to ensure functionality of user end user
devices and services.
Role Duties and Responsibilities
- Configure the hardware and software environment as required by the system being integrated.
- Produce integration test specifications conducts tests and records and reports on outcomes.
- Install or remove system components using supplied installation instructions and tools.
- Conduct standard tests and contributes to investigations of problems and faults.
- Confirm the correct working of installations.
- Documents results in accordance with agreed procedures.
- Assist in the design of hardware platforms; considers cost performance toolsand operation systems.
- Participate in the installation of hardware platforms to ensure the effectivedelivery of IT services.
- Compare hardware platforms across ones own organization and their competitors.
- Adhere to guidelines and policies on hardware platform usage.
- Assist in changing hardware platforms while maintaining minimal disruption tothe clients programs.
- Prepare and maintain operational workstation baseline for multiple networkswithin the AOR.
- Assure successful deployment of security updates and anti- malware/data lossprevention endpoints.
- Assure security hardening based on security settings and group policies
- Install and document remote application provisioning services based on butnot limited to Windows Remote App concept.
- Liaise with the Agencys Centralised Service Desk for incident problem andchange management.
Essential Skills Experience and Certifications
- Higher vocational training in a relevant discipline with 2 years post-related experience. Or a secondary educational qualification with 4 years post-related experience.
- At least 2 years experience providing functioning support of hardware software networks and computers in large organizations.
- Hands-on experience in client provisioning application deployment and baremetal install using MDT and SCCM as toolsets.
- Practical experience detecting and troubleshooting client OS and software provisioning problems.
- Knowledge of the entire Microsoft Operating system product line administrationwith focus on Windows 10/11
- Deep knowledge of implementing and administering large active directory environments.
- Clear communication skills and experience of end-user support.
- Proficient is the use of the English Language. Most of the work of the NCIAgency is conducted in the English language.
