R&D Manager

We are seeking an R&D Manager to strengthen our R&D Department in Zoetermeer.

Through our brands Kannad Marine McMurdo and Netwave we develop and deliver advanced IT and electronic systems including Voyage Data Recorders (VDRs) and safety beacons to customers worldwide.

The role

We are looking for an experienced R&D Manager to lead our R&D team. You will manage day-to-day R&D operations drive product development and support the CTO by translating strategy into execution. This is a key leadership role in delivering innovative safety-critical maritime products.

Key responsibilities

• Lead mentor and grow a multidisciplinary R&D team (hardware firmware software)
• Own execution of the R&D roadmap and ensure timely high-quality product delivery
• Oversee full product lifecycle: concept development validation and production
• Provide technical direction and approve engineering and design decisions
• Ensure compliance with relevant standards and certification requirements
• Collaborate closely with Production Quality Sales and external partners
• Report on progress risks and performance to the CTO

Profile

• Degree in Electronics Electrical Engineering Embedded Systems or similar
• Proven leadership experience in hardware/embedded product development
• Strong technical background in embedded systems (hardware and/or firmware)
• Experience managing complex development projects through to production
• Comfortable in regulated or safety-critical environments
• Strong decision-making and communication skills

Desirable

• Experience in maritime electronics (e.g. VDR EPIRB AIS)
• Knowledge of maritime standards (IMO SOLAS IEC)
• Background in RF GNSS or wireless technologies
• Experience with certification processes (e.g. DNV Bureau Veritas)
