Job Description

Eindhoven University of Technology (TU/e) the Center for Quantum Materials and Technology (QT/e) and the Casimir Institute are looking for a Program Manager Quantum for our QDNL Brainport Eindhoven ecosystem. This role is at the heart of one of the five regional innovation hubs of QDNL which aims to accelerate the development of quantum technologies for applications such as quantum computing quantum secure communication and quantum sensing applications.

As quantum program manager you will be supporting a growing and active quantum community in the Brainport region. Operating between QT/e and the Casimir Institute you are part of the operational Hub team of quantum hub coordinator business developers communication and project officers. You will work closely with TU/e researchers across departments and institutes Brainport Development BOM and other partners to grow and energize the local ecosystem.

You will support the Foundational Technologies Domain of the Casimir institute that includes the research topics Quantum & Novel Computing Paradigms; AI for Robotics and Control; Mathematical Foundations; and Software Security and systems. You will play an active role in supporting and contributing to the management of the quantum center QT/e which coordinates the National Growth Fund programs in quantum technology including the Hub program for QDNL Brainport this position you will be ideally placed to help accelerate the development of quantum technologies within the region while fostering strong connections across the Eindhoven ecosystem - from academic and institutional partners to industry. You will contribute to strengthening collaborations and nurturing a vibrant integrated community that drives innovation and impact.

You will take a leadership and supporting role in QDNL Brainport Eindhovens large-scale current and future funding programs. These large-scale programs focus on long-term trajectories (longer than five years) at both the national and international level with a clear ambition to scale up the Hub activities and partnerships internationally. You will support the Hub team in coordinating hub activities and large-scale program support events engaging stakeholders expanding the network of partners and increasing collaborations with industry and ensuring smooth operations.

You will take both a leading and supporting role in identifying articulating coordinating the scientific challenges of the Eindhoven Hub and positioning the region as a strong and visible contributor to QDNLs ambitious Challenge-Based Program. As part of the next phase of the National Growth Fund (NGF) this program will drive innovation through mission-driven collaboration between researchers industry partners and endusers. You will oversee the preparation and submission of Eindhovens challenge-based proposals ensuring coherence across disciplines strong stakeholder engagement and high-quality program design.

Together with your Hub team you will gather input from the local research and innovation community map capabilities and ambitions and take the initiative to build strong balanced consortia. You will have an active role in establishing and managing a dedicated support structure for large-scale programs such as the NGF Quantum Technology initiatives future national funding rounds (including potential Quantum Valley programs) and major European opportunities such as the Quantum Flagship EuroQCI EuroHPC quantum pilot lines in Chips JU and the upcoming EU Quantum this role you will be a key enabler of strategic collaboration and long-term programmatic growth for the Brainport quantum ecosystem.

The Research Support Office (RSO) is the central Research Support Office of TU/e and consists of a close-knit team of professionals who support the scientific staff in applying for European and national grants for research. The RSO team further consists of research funding advisors grant consultants corporate lawyers and project managers.

As Institute Program Manager Quantum at Casimir you will be embedded in the RSO and from there be allocated to work for the Casimir institute. You will become part of a larger team of Institute Program Managers and Research Support staff for other TU/e institutes. This allows knowledge exchange and team building with colleagues with a similar role albeit for a different TU/e institute.

Quantum Hub Management

  • Foster collaboration among researchers students startups industry partners and public stakeholders in the Eindhoven quantum ecosystem.
  • Strengthen the shared identity and sense of community within the Eindhoven quantum ecosystem.
  • Support and guide the implementation of current Quantum Delta NL National Growth Fund (NGF) programs including:
    • Overseeing all ongoing NGF programs of QDNL.
    • Leading the Eindhoven Quantum Hub program (AL2) and extend our collaboration with other quantum hubs
    • Playing a leading role in preparing applications for QDNLs ambitious Challenge-Based Program.
  • Establish and coordinate dedicated support teams for large-scale funding opportunities including a writing team composed of researchers and operational Hub staff.
  • Support the biweekly QT/e management team meetings where all large-scale quantum technology programs and upcoming opportunities are coordinated.
  • Represent and advocate for the Eindhoven Quantum Hub at regional national and international levels.
  • Support the Hub team in executing the Hubs strategic plan and monitor progress toward key objectives.
  • Liaise closely with Quantum Delta NLs national organization and with the four other quantum hubs in Amsterdam Leiden Delft and Twente.
  • Support the Hub team in building and maintaining strong relationships with academic partners industry and governmental organizations.
  • Represent the Hub in relevant regional national and international quantum initiatives.
  • Support the Casimir institute in the Domain Foundational Technologies with
    • Maintaining an active (quantum technology) research population
    • Major calls events and activities
    • Aligning quantum technologies with the other domains at the institute
    • The connecting research topics Novel Computing Paradigms; AI for Robotics and Control; Mathematical Foundations; Software Security and systems

  • A visible well-structured and vibrant quantum community supported by recurring events active communication channels and recognizable formats.
  • An engaged and growing network of researchers startups industry partners and public stakeholders.

Job Requirements

  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Academic degree and level of thinking and working affinity with education.
  • Experience in institutional support and in management and support of a research community.
  • Ability to lead and support high-level and overarching funding programs.
  • Proactive collaborative and able to work independently.
  • Strong affinity with quantum science engineering innovation and ecosystem development.
  • Excellent (written and verbal) proficiency in English.
