We are looking for an experienced Model Validator to join a professional Model Risk Management team in Utrecht.
As a Model Validator you will critically assess risk models that support important strategic and risk management decisions. You will combine strong quantitative and analytical skills with the ability to challenge assumptions engage with senior stakeholders and translate complex analyses into clear and actionable conclusions.
This is an excellent opportunity for a professional with experience in model development model validation risk modelling or a related quantitative discipline who wants to work in a challenging banking environment.
- Critically assess model code analyses documentation and supporting information.
- Evaluate the accuracy methodology assumptions and overall soundness of risk models.
- Perform statistical analyses and interpret complex analytical results.
- Translate statistical findings into clear well-reasoned conclusions.
- Lead discussions with internal stakeholders regarding validation findings.
- Challenge model developers and stakeholders constructively when required.
- Prepare high-quality and timely model validation reports.
- Ensure validation work meets applicable regulatory and internal standards.
- Advise senior management and model developers on model improvements.
- Provide recommendations regarding appropriate model use and limitations.
- Contribute to continuous improvement of model validation processes and practices.
The ideal candidate has:
- HBO-level education in a quantitative financial mathematical statistical econometric or related field.
- Professional experience in model development model validation risk modelling or a closely related quantitative discipline.
- Strong programming skills.
- Hands-on experience working with and analysing large and complex datasets.
- Strong statistical and analytical capabilities.
- Good understanding of banking regulations and regulatory expectations concerning model risk.
- Experience interpreting and challenging model assumptions and methodologies.
- Strong report-writing and documentation skills.
- Ability to communicate complex technical findings clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Experience engaging with senior stakeholders and model developers.

You will work within a Model Risk Management team where collaboration knowledge sharing and continuous professional development are important.
The position operates under a hybrid working model combining remote work with collaboration from the Utrecht office.
