Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced Data Governance Developer specializing in Microsoft Purview to design develop and deploy robust data governance cataloging and compliance solutions. Operating within our Amsterdam branch you will integrate Purview across a variety of cloud data sources to establish seamless data lineage track metadata and enforce security compliance policies across the enterprise ecosystem.

Key Responsibilities

• Purview Deployment & Customization: Design develop and deploy data governance and compliance solutions using Microsoft Purview. Configure and customize data classification sensitivity labeling and data protection policies.
• Data Integration & Lineage: Integrate Microsoft Purview with diverse data platforms to establish automated seamless data lineage metadata management and enterprise-wide data discovery.
• Collaboration & Enforcement: Partner closely with Data Architects Analysts and core IT infrastructure teams to accurately map data sources and enforce data governance best practices.
• Optimization & Performance: Monitor troubleshoot and continuously optimize Purview services to ensure high performance security alignment and tight integration with Microsoft Sentinel Azure and hybrid environments.
• Data Quality & Discovery: Implement automated discovery processes that actively enhance data quality accessibility and security across the organization.
• Documentation & Enablement: Create comprehensive technical specifications governance workflows and best practice documentation. Provide training and actionable guidance to data stewards and business users.

Technical Skills & Experience

Essential Requirements

• Experience: 3 years of dedicated experience developing and deploying solutions with Microsoft Purview (or closely related enterprise data governance platforms) within a total of 24 years in IT.
• Education: Bachelors degree in Computer Science Information Technology or a related technical field.
• Azure Ecosystem Mastery: Proficient hand-on experience with Microsoft Azure services specifically:
• Azure Data Factory (ADF) & ETL Pipelines
• Azure Synapse Analytics
• Azure SQL Database & Azure Blob Storage
• Governance Principles: Deep understanding of metadata management data cataloging lineage tracking data modeling and compliance frameworks.
• Security Cross-Over: Familiarity or experience working alongside security operations specifically utilizing Microsoft Sentinel for compliance monitoring.
• Language Skills: Dutch language proficiency at a minimum B2 level (Reading Writing and Speaking) is mandatory.

Desirable & Preferred Skills

• Certifications: Microsoft Azure certifications centered on Data Engineering Cloud Security or Data Governance.
• Automation: Proficiency with scripting languages (Python or PowerShell) to automate Purview configurations and data ingestion processes.
• Data Visualization: Hands-on experience with Power BI to support data governance reporting and compliance analytics.
• Regulatory Compliance: Knowledge of international regulatory standards such as GDPR CCPA HIPAA or SOX.
• Hybrid Architectures: Prior experience implementing data governance strategies across multi-cloud or hybrid data environments.
