The job:
As a Senior Service Logistics Vendor Manager at Thermo Fisher Scientific you will lead operational excellence across our service supply chain network. You will manage a team responsible for supplier logistics operations transportation management inventory control and supplier delivery performance.
This role supports our mission by ensuring the reliable compliant and efficient movement of critical scientific products throughout the customer lifecycle.
You will serve as the key Service representative across Purchasing Manufacturing Suppliers Quality Planning and Service Operations to ensure quality parts availability aligned with forecasted demand. You will drive supplier performance and logistics execution while acting as an escalation path for operational buyers to resolve supplier delivery quality and availability risks.
You will manage coach and develop a supplier management team in a growing organization setting clear priorities performance expectations and development plans to drive accountability and continuous improvement. As the organization evolves you will help define team responsibilities operating rhythms standard work and ways of working in alignment with the broader Service strategy.
You will oversee a complex supplier logistics network of approximately 200 suppliers and $450M in annual spend partnering with suppliers 3PL providers carriers and internal stakeholders to improve delivery performance strengthen supplier quality reduce operational risk and drive measurable service and cost improvements.
You will develop and implement logistics strategies that improve supplier delivery performance across inbound and outbound flows including on-time delivery shipment accuracy quality performance transportation efficiency and issue resolution. Through data-driven decision making KPI tracking root cause analysis and structured continuous improvement methods you will identify opportunities to optimize logistics processes improve supplier performance reduce costs and maintain high standards of quality and customer service.
Requirements:
Education:
Advanced degree plus 6 years of experience preferred or bachelors degree plus 8 years of experience in logistics supply chain supplier operations or service operations; preferred fields of study include Supply Chain Management Logistics Business Administration or Operations Management
Professional certifications in Supply Chain Logistics Lean or Continuous Improvement welcomed (APICS CSCMP Lean Six Sigma or equivalent)
Skills & Experience:
Experience managing complex supplier logistics operations across a large supplier base (approximately 200 suppliers and $450M in annual spend) driving supplier delivery performance quality improvement cost optimization and operational excellence
Experience leading and developing teams of 4 direct reports within a growing organization including defining roles and responsibilities establishing operating methods and driving performance management and talent development
Experience as a cross-functional partner between Service Purchasing Manufacturing Suppliers Quality Planning and Operations to ensure parts availability and resolve supplier delivery quality and availability risks
Experience managing supplier logistics performance including inbound and outbound delivery improvement on-time delivery shipment accuracy issue resolution and supplier quality improvement initiatives
Knowledge of enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems and proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel PowerPoint); experience with data visualization or reporting tools preferred
Experience managing 3PL relationships carrier performance supplier scorecards and service-level agreements
Analytical and problem-solving capabilities with experience in KPI development performance tracking root cause analysis and action planning
Experience with quality management systems and regulatory compliance (ISO or related standards)
Excellent verbal and written communication skills including the ability to influence suppliers external partners and internal stakeholders
Ability to travel typically 1015%
