About the team
The Tommy Hilfiger Product Strategy and Operations department works for the Global Tommy Hilfiger brand. The department drives synergies and streamlines processes and tools across all business units and teams to raise efficiency improve data quality and support profitability.
Within the department the Process Development and Data team works closely with IT to drive new developments and projects in the areas of Product Master Data Merchandising Buying Sales Product Design and Development and related enterprise systems. And partners with Product Business Units Supply Chain Operations Brand Merchandising Regional Wholesale Operations Digital Selling B2B e-Commerce Retail Vendor Management Corporate Responsibility and Quality Assurance teams.
The team also supports tool adoption process improvement and training needs across the organization
Within this team the Product Design & Development team supports the business processes and systems used across the product design and development landscape. This includes PLM color management systems vendor management systems reporting tools 3D asset management systems and related process touchpoints with MDM/PIM Buy Collaborations tool and SAP.
About the role
The Manager Product Design & Development reports directly to the Director Product Design & Development in Amsterdam.
This role drives and delivers key projects and enhancements across global design and product development processes including vendor collaboration technical design 3D design color and material management.
Acting as the bridge between business and technology you will translate business needs into clear requirements and lead the implementation of system and process enhancements that support operational excellence and the broader system strategy.
You will support the Director Product Design & Development in the day to day business operation coordination and functional guidance of the team based across Amsterdam and India. You will continuously identify opportunities to improve ways of working strengthen data quality and support the end-to-end product lifecycle.
The role requires the ability to set priorities support decision-making guide issue resolution and act as a subject matter resource for colleagues within the team and across the wider business.
In close partnership with Global IT you will shape and deliver solutions that enable a future-ready Product Design and Development process. Next to IT there will be close cooperation with multiple global teams including the Business Units CK Global Product Design & Development Global Supply Vendor Management Corporate Responsibility and Quality Assurance.
The role involves interaction and cooperation with stakeholders across various business teams offices and time zones. It therefore requires strong communication skills sound judgment and the ability to manage expectations align priorities and maintain progress in a dynamic global environment with multiple parallel initiatives and evolving business needs.
Key responsibilities
Include but not limited to:
- Supports the Director Product Design & Development to guide and coordinate the Product Design & Development team setting clear priorities and supporting the team in delivering against agreed objectives.
- Oversee and consult on operational activities of the team taking accountability for the quality and timely delivery of activities within the functional scope.
- Initiate drive and deliver projects and initiatives regarding the globalization digitalization and data quality of Product Design & Development processes within Global Tommy Hilfiger.
- Manage the implementation of cross-departmental projects initiated by the Process Development team in the area of Product Design & Development.
- Act as a key point of contact for small to medium size Product Design & Development functional topics within the team and across global stakeholders.
- Together with the Director Product Design & Development manage key stakeholders located globally and across multiple departments.
- Drive the analysis validation and design of new processes and IT enhancements in the Product Design & Development area translating business needs into clear process requirements and functional specifications.
- Contribute to the definition documentation and adoption of global processes standards and ways of working within the Product Design & Development discipline.
- Support the team with day-to-day business support for Product Design & Development systems including PLM Color Digital 3D tools and related process requests questions feedback bugs and malfunctions.
- Partner with IT to test new requirements upgrades and improvements ensuring solutions meet business needs and support stable operations.
- Support coaching and development of team members by sharing expertise providing guidance on complex topics and strengthening process and system knowledge within the team.
- Proactively manage workload priorities communicate risks and trade-offs and maintain stakeholder alignment as business needs and priorities evolve.
The ideal candidate
- Brings 710 years of relevant work experience preferably in the fashion or retail industry.
- Has a strong understanding of Product Design and Development processes; consultancy experience and/or experience in Product Development and Design are a strong plus.
- Brings strong knowledge of PLM systems data architecture and system-enabled process improvement; experience with Centric 8 PLM is desirable.
- Has proven experience coordinating guiding or functionally leading the work of a small team project team or functional workstream in an indirect leadership capacity.
- Has strong experience in modelling mapping and improving complex processes preferably product development processes including process documentation training materials or adoption support.
- Demonstrates strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a proactive hands-on mindset and the ability to navigate ambiguity in a fast-changing environment.
- Has excellent stakeholder management and communication skills with the ability to manage expectations communicate risks and trade-offs and align stakeholders across multiple levels of the organization.
- Is confident and proactive in decision-making within the functional scope with the ability to assess risks recommend practical solutions and influence stakeholders without direct authority.
- Has strong affinity with IT and system integration with willingness to understand technical details as well as drive people and process change.
- Has experience working with both Agile and traditional project management approaches including the use of JIRA or similar project enhancement and issue tracking tools.
- Has practical experience using generative AI tools such as ChatGPT and AI-enabled or agent-assisted workflows to improve process and workflow efficiency for example by creating process flows drafting requirements or documentation or applying basic scripting/automation tools such as Python where relevant.
- Is fluent in English both written and spoken and able to work effectively in a multicultural multilingual and international environment.
- Holds a Bachelors or Masters degree in Business Administration Engineering Product Development Information Management or a related field or has equivalent relevant experience.
