Job Summary

It is time to rethink our urban wastewater treatment plants. The current generation of wastewater treatment systems focus on the destruction of carbon compounds and of nutrients instead of on energy and nutrient recovery. Can we turn this around and go to energy positive wastewater treatment plants that harvest valuable materials This is an ambitious topic which involves combining many innovative as well as existing technologies of both biological and physical-chemical this manner a positive impact can be made on the footprint of wastewater treatment to achieve a circular wastewater treatment plant.

Your goal

In this internship you will explore innovative treatments and reuse strategies for wastewaters and nutrients to bring a more circular approach closer to reality.

What will you be doing We have listed it for you:

  • Conduct laboratory experiments to find optimal operational parameters for resource recovery technologies.

  • Evaluate approaches taken in literature.

  • Develop a process scheme for a circular wastewater treatment plant for which you investigate the feasibility.

    You will work on applied research in circular wastewater treatment helping to bring innovative solutions to the market.

Who are you

  • Enrolled in a Dutch BSc or MSc Chemical (Bio) Process Civil or Environmental Engineering study.

  • Available for an internship for a minimal period of 5 months.

  • Flexible and independent.

  • Curious and analytical.

  • Professional command of the English language in words and writing.
