Trade Compliance is one ofthese core domainsand plays a critical role in this.Our businessoperatesacross borders supply chains and regulatory environments where customs export controls and sanctions directlyimpacthow weoperatedeliverand grow.

Within Trade Compliance this means further developing and embedding a robust Internal Compliance Program (ICP) covering customs exportcontrolsand sanctions. The current setup provides an operational foundation with a strong opportunity to further align standardize and mature this Trade Compliance ICP and embed it effectively within our broaderCompliance Management System.

What you will do

As Head of Global Trade Compliance you will lead and further build Vanderlandes global trade compliance function as an integral part of our Compliance Risk & Ethics organization. You will report directly to theDirectorEthics Risk & Compliance andbe responsible forshaping and delivering a robustfuturefit global trade compliance program.

You will lead a globally distributed team ofthreetrade compliance professionals with the opportunity to further develop the teams capabilities and ways of workingover time.

The scope covers all global trade compliance topics including customs exportcontrolsand sanctions as well as sanctions screening frameworks and their application across the organization. You willfurtherdevelopimplement and continuously improveVanderlandes Trade Compliance Internal Compliance Programand ensure its integration into the wider Compliance Management System.

This is a leadership role with a strong transformationcomponent requiring stakeholder engagement across functionsregionsand management levels to further embed Trade Compliance in the way Vanderlande operates.

Key responsibilities

Leadership and team development
  • Leadcoachand develop the global trade compliance team creating a strong and engaged team across regions.

  • Further develop theteam structure ways ofworkingand capabilities to supportthe continued growth and maturity of Vanderlandes global Trade Compliance program.

TradeCompliance programdevelopment
  • Further developimplementand continuously improve VanderlandesTrade Compliance Internal Compliance Program including policies standardscontrolsand monitoring mechanisms.

  • Ensure full integration of trade complianceand customsintoVanderlandesglobal Compliance Management System including risk assessmentsreportingand governance.

  • Define clear ownership escalation routes and decision-making frameworks across regions and functions.

Customs exportcontrolsand sanctions framework ownership
  • Overseeing global customs operations ensuring compliance withapplicable customs andinternational trade lawsand regulations across Vanderlandes markets.

  • Broker management acting as the primary point of contact for third-partycustoms brokersandmonitoring their performance.

  • Own and further develop the global framework for customs exportcontrolsand sanctions.

  • Ensure consistency in approach while enabling effective local implementation.

  • Translatelegal/regulatory requirements into practical risk-based processes and controls.

Sanctions screening and cross-process integration
  • Design implement and oversee globalsanctionsscreening frameworks including tooling escalation logicand documentation standards.

  • Ensure sanctions screening is effectively embedded in business processes such asbusiness partneronboarding customeracceptanceand order execution.

  • Work withthe Ethics Risk & Complianceteamand other functions to exploresynergies for oralignment other(related)processessuch as anti-corruptiondue diligence and integrity risk assessments.

Operational excellence and continuous improvement
  • Design andoptimizeprocedurescontrolsand manuals for trade compliance (includingcustomsclassificationand valuation topics).

  • Strengthen data quality documentationstandardsand audit readiness.

  • Identifyimprovement areas and implement pragmatic scalable solutions.

Business partnership and stakeholder management
  • Work closely with key functionsandteamsuch as ProcurementSales OperationsRouting & Forwarding EngineeringFinanceTaxLegal and regional teams.

  • Proactivelyadvisesenior management on trade-related risks and strategic decisions.

  • Act as thecentral pointof contact for trade compliance across Vanderlande ensuring clear governance ownership and escalation where needed.

  • Collaborate withCompliance and dedicatedTrade Compliance teams across Toyota Industries Corporation (TICO) contributing to knowledge sharing alignment of approaches and continuous improvement of global standards.

Trainingawarenessand regulatory monitoring
  • Drive global training and awareness on trade compliance topics.

  • Monitor regulatory developments and translate these into actionable improvements.

  • Build andmaintainrelationships with authorities externaladvisorsand partners.

What you will bring

Education and background
  • Masters degree or equivalent experience in lawinternational businesssupply chain customs and trade complianceora relatedfield.

Experience
  • At least8yearsofprofessionalexperience in customs exportcontrolsand international trade compliance.

  • Demonstrable experience inbuildingmaturingor leadingTrade Complianceprogramsin an international environmentincluding areas such as customs exportcontrolsand sanctions.

  • Experience withInternal Compliance Programs (ICPs) trade compliance governance riskmanagementand regulatory compliance frameworks.

  • Provenleadership experienceand preferably people manager experiencewithin amultinationalandmatrix organization.

Skills & capabilities
  • Ability tooperateat both strategic and operational level translating frameworks into practical implementation.

  • Ability to simplify complex regulatory topics into clear actionable guidance.

  • Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills.

  • Confidence to engage and challenge senior stakeholders where needed.

  • Pragmatic and solution-oriented mindset.

  • Relevant certifications in customs export controls or trade complianceare a plus.

What do we offer

This position offers a competitive salary range of 8.300 to 9.900 per month (excluding 8% holiday allowance) depending on years of experience.
