General Manager

Element has a fantastic opportunity for a General Manager II to be responsible for both our Breda and Amsterdam facilities in the Netherlands.

• The General ManagerIItitle has an overall EBITDA responsibilitygreaterthan $4M.
• Responsible and accountable to drive and deliver to annual Operational Plan commitments including revenues profit workingcapitaland operational performance.
• Lead and inspire a culture of safety first.
• Responsible to workwith location support functions and systems including QA Safety and Health Sales and Strategic Accounts Finance Human resources Business Improvement and Service Excellence.
• Develop and execute short andlong-term businessplans and strategies to include operational goals equipment needs andheadcountfor the location.
• Work in conjunctionwithlong-term group goals develop and implement strategies based on geographic business industry knowledge technical capability andexpertise and capital expenditures needs.
• Maintain contact and relationships with top location accounts in line withpolicies andparticipateas necessary to cultivate new accounts.
• Providemanagerial guidance tocolleagueson reporting needs and requirements.
• Prepare andsubmitaccurateforecasts asmaintainacceptable levels of working capital anddetermineand execute oncorrective actions necessary to achieve plan goals
• Provide guidancedirectionand opportunitiesforcolleaguesto be developed towards target roles.
• Provide positive leadership and representation of Element to the public customers vendors and allcolleaguesthrough membership in professional organisations serving on project teams conductingcolleaguemeetingsand visiting work areas.
• Ensure compliance with all Element policies including but not limited to Terms and Conditions trade compliance treatment of others and the code of conduct.
• Ensure adherence to alllegislationpertaining tosafetyenvironmentand corporate governance.
• Fully accountable andultimately responsiblefor all hired personnel dedicated to the location.
• Maintain an environment of respect and dignity within the labcoveringcolleagueinteractions and problem-solving while ensuring policy is understood and followed.
• Supervisory Responsibilities:
• Operating in the locations top leadership role the General ManagerII is fully accountable andultimately responsiblefor all hiredcolleaguesdedicated to the location.
• Work with assignedcolleaguesto ensure work schedules aremaintainedand balanced.
• Maintain an environment of respect and dignity within the location coveringcolleagueinteractions andproblem-solvingwhile ensuring work rules are known and followed.

Skills/Qualifications:

• Working knowledge of laboratory safety
• A bachelors degree (BA or BS) from an accredited 4-year college or university in an engineering or technical-related discipline with Professional Engineer (PE) designation desirable
• A minimum of 10 years related experience managing an enterprise with at least 25 employees with 3-6 subordinate exempt levelmanagers/supervisorsover multiple shifts
• Understands that all functions within the lab fall undertheirdirect purview. Works closely with Division Directorregardingareas of lab development and support
• Technical leadership is vital to the production and operation of assigned tests
• Technical leadership is vital to the overall operation of the entire lab
• Mustpossessa strong ability to communicate (written and oral) effectively with clients and colleagues with great attention to detail and timing of results
• Ability to organize the lab in line with the strategicoperationaland technical goals of the entire company
• Strong organisationalproblem-solvingandconflict-resolutionskills to effectivelyestablishand maintain two-way communications to understand the needs and concerns of all departments
• Ability to effectivelyprovidemanagerial guidance to allcolleagueson all functions within the lab
• Ability to deeplyanalyseand resolve operational finance and other significant business issueson a daily basis
• Has broad businessfinanceand operational excellence acumen
• Maintains a deep understanding of both the market in which the lab islocatedas well as the national and global Testing Inspection and Certification market
• Is able totranslate this market awareness into both a strategic and tactical management approach which contributes to the success of the lab at all levels
• Hasaproventrack recordof successregardingmanagerialtechnicaland operational competency both inside and outside of the lab
• Is regarded by stakeholders within the lab -- as well as in the larger Element Sector -- as a successful focused leader in the overall Element system
