Role Overview

An Environmental Manager is required to support waterway marking projects and maintenance activities. The role focuses on stakeholder management environmental coordination communication and permit processes within a dynamic infrastructure and water management environment.

The ideal candidate is a proactive and results-oriented professional with strong communication skills organizational sensitivity and the ability to manage relationships with multiple stakeholders. Technical specialization is less important than ownership collaboration and delivery focus.

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as the primary contact for internal and external stakeholders including authorities municipalities ports water boards and project partners
  • Coordinate permit applications and environmental procedures
  • Support project teams with environmental management activities
  • Develop communication plans and internal newsletters
  • Contribute to procurement and tender processes ensuring environmental interests are integrated
  • Advise management and project teams on environmental and stakeholder-related matters
  • Monitor external developments and assess their impact on project execution
  • Identify risks and opportunities and recommend practical improvements
  • Maintain strong collaboration with authorities local communities and operational teams

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum HBO (higher professional education) degree
  • At least 2 years of experience in environmental management
  • Valid drivers license
  • Availability to work onsite in Rotterdam on Thursdays
  • Excellent command of Dutch both spoken and written

Preferred Experience

  • Experience working with government organizations or public-sector stakeholders
  • Strong networking and stakeholder management capabilities
