Internship overview

This internship will provide a Dutch/Belgian student with indepth practical experience in data privacy management with a strong focus on Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs) and the sustainable embedding of privacy risk management within the organization.

The intern will be actively involved in assessing privacy risks related to personal data processing activities particularly in contexts involving special categories of data and criminal or lawenforcementrelated data. The internship aligns theoretical knowledge of EU Belgian and Dutch privacy legislation with realworld governance operational processes and compliance requirements.

The internship is learningoriented and does not require a dedicated end project though a formal assignment or report can be arranged if required by the educational institution.

Objective:

The primary objective of the internship is to enable the student to develop practical competency in conducting DPIAs managing privacy risks and assisting with identified improvement actions in a sustainable manner.

This will include:

• Gaining handson experience in performing and documenting DPIAs.
• Learning how to assess compliance with the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
• Understanding and applying Belgian and Dutch sector-specific data privacy legislation.
• Developing skills to embed DPIAs into organizational governance and management systems.
• Understanding how privacy risks are identified mitigated monitored and reviewed over time.
• Supporting with internal and external data and information audits.
• Strengthening professional skills in legal interpretation structured analysis reporting and stakeholder collaboration.

The intern will receive structured supervision and regular feedback. If required by the educational institution learning objectives competencies and assessment criteria can be formally aligned and documented.
